My reason for liking this game is... weird. I'm afraid of heights since childhood and this game just gives me adrenaline like non other. Seven hours in, I'm in my own ship and can write a review, having encountered basically no bugs. Looks like I have the same rig as the testers.
The gameplay for PVE is a bit like "No Mans Sky", discovering new Islands and ranking up your stuff. I played the predecessor "Worlds Adrift" and loved it quite a lot. But it was PVP and I was playing alone and got ganked all the time. So at some point it stopped being fun and I logged off. Shortly thereafter they had to pull the plug. This version feels more refined. Better tutorial and PVE fighting, no bands of player pirates that sneak up and destroy hours of work.

The game will eventually experience a game breaking bug where you'll devote some hours into playing it only to lose all capacity to spawn on your own ship essentially making you have to almost start from scratch.
Makes the game hard to enjoy when your progress just goes away after a while

Wanted to like this as there is so much potential, but...there are just so many game breaking bugs. I played again before posting this as they updated and hag a nice list of patch notes and fixes, but upon running it....it felt even MORE buggy! The ship jumped forwards, killing our pilot and throwing the rest of us right off of it. The ship would have been completely lost if I wasn't thankfully linked to it. Then another player was having horrible noises and couldn't see any of the items in the ship's storage containers. Don't buy this, Maybe check back in a year to see if the devs get a clue, but don't waste your money now.

Update has BROKEN the game :( When Launching a unity loader appears with a red exclamation mark over the game's logo. It does not load and proceeds to crash.

If your just playing lost skies without haveing played worlds adrift its fine. but as someone who played a fair amount of worlds adrift. This game simply is not as good as its worlds, it dosent have the soul worlds did and dosent get you lost in the adventure in the same way that game did. this game as a replacement for worlds simply falls short and is not what i had hoped

AMAZING GAME!
But its still so rough around the edges and development patches are too slow to gain my trust.
Ill be back when they fix crafting. There are no menus, just a long run on list and it doesnt recognize inventory storage for crafting.
Im here to explore the skys, not spend 3 hours organizing boxes and contents!
Its absolutly worth a try but Im a bit disappointed at the amount of polished gameplay

>> I have held back any kind of review in the past 6 months because I was giving devs a chance to turn things around before sharing it; I really wanted my review to be positive but it's no longer an option for me. I would describe myself a hardcore fan of the WA/LS licence and I will be open to changing my review in the future should critical bugs get fixed but as of now, I cannot recommend this game (and have advised all interested friends to keep away for now) because of the number and severity of bugs that remain unadressed and unfixed for months at a time. <<
Clickbait TL;DR: I am in a toxic relationship with Worlds Adrift/Lost Skies, where I see and I am in love with the potential of it while getting betrayed by the reality of what the game really serves right now. I really want to believe so badly in this project, but I feel let down times and times again, and at some point I have to re-evaluate my relationship to the game.
There is no questionning the fact that Lost Skies, like Worlds Adrift, has immense potential and scratches an itch for us addicted players that no other game has come close to scratching so far.
That being said...
- There are too many bugs impacting negatively the game experience, some very critical to the core of the game, that have remained unadressed and/or unfixed for 6+ months. The team did solve some bugs, but too little too late. I feel like we really need a big bug fix wave because last 3 bug fix/hotfix updates were underwhelming. The longer you wait for a fix, the higher the expectations, and right now the bug fixes are very spaced out for a volume one would expect from weekly hotfixes.
- The infuriating thing is that a lot of said bugs have already been diagnosed, reproduced *and* fixed (in mods) by a player (which means that Bossa would just need to talk to this player to then write their own more elegant version of the fix for the game without needing to do all the initial inverstigation leg work). Most of these fixes, the player solved in 1 or 2h, but we have been waiting for official fixes for months.
- The hotfixes are slow to come and they don't work. Almost every new feature introduced in their last July patch is bugged and doesn't work. The hotfix for the latest update doesn't solve the issue at all either. It feels like the features and fixes are not being sufficiently QA-ed internally by the team, because most of these bugs appear within minutes of playing.
- There has been a significant inscrease in negative reviews after the last game update that had been long awaited by the players and teased. Again, too little too late in my personal opinion, and whatever little we got did not work for the most part.

What a buggy mess. Even for early access this is astoundingly bad. It could be so much more if the devs put in any effort to fix the countless bugs that have been sitting here for the past 6+ months.

So I bought their original game Worlds Adrift that was abandoned. I really enjoyed that game at the time but it had some major bugs and issues.
Here we are years later, I took the bait bought the game again thinking they'd ironed out the kinks and made it a better more accessible game.
I'm sorry to say in it's current state, it's like they just re-released the old game with the same bugs and all. Your stuff will literally disappear from your ship...hours of play time wasted for a bug. It's been months since any update has been released. I really want to think I didn't get scammed a second time by the same game but as time passes it's starting to feel more and more like that.

I REALLY wanted to love this game, but after spending a little time on it I became more and more disheartened. Yes, it looks very promising but with the devs constantly emphasizing more content and not fixing game-breaking bugs, I have to say this is starting to remind me of abandonware. It's super common for projects to have 100% involvement when DEVELOPING content because it's fun. Like, really really fun. The problem I have is that it seems like nobody wants to troubleshoot existing issues, which is not fun but pays dividends in the end and is a real indicator of long-term involvement. The fancy trailer with the voice-over is even more suspect with the game in a state like this...
I'm not asking for a complete game (this is EA after all), but you best at least fix your shit before you let everyone see it. If things do change for the better I'll update this comment and buy copies for all my friends, because DEAR GOD this has potential.
