Lil' Guardsman Reviews

Imagine you're a 12 year old, suddenly in charge of the guard shed at the castle gate, where you decide if elves, goblins and 100+ other characters should be admitted. It's a wonderful combination of deduction, narrative and puzzle games.

I'm conflicted. As a movie, I LOVED it. The art and humor are cozy and on point. But as a game, it's too often tedious. There's very little deduction involved, mostly guesswork and luck. Will using the metal detector or X-ray work better to find out if a person is smuggling? Or will using the whip? Or will talking to them? And then should you deny them entry? Or send them to jail? Or call the councilwoman? Or call someone else? There's too many options and not enough clues to point you in any clear direction, so good luck. Trying to get the 'best outcome' is tedious and often involves replaying levels over and over again. I had the most fun when I stopped playing it as a game and just followed a walkthrough to the letter and enjoyed the movie. And as a movie.... it was a lot of fun.

15 hours and still haven't finished this super funny, charismatic game. I love the easter eggs hidden throughout the game and the surprising encounters. The fact that every decision has impact on the city is so good as well, and sometimes 'airtight' decisions seem not so airtight after all. Really refreshing so far, can't wait to see what it still has in store for me! Update: 17 hours and I've finished my first playthrough! Super nice, funny, not too complicated game with lots of choices to impact the game left and right. I love the feedback the game gives after most decisions. Can recommend!

A game I honestly regret not buying at full-price! All the character interactions are so refreshing and fun! The storylines are wild! All the choices really feel like they MATTER in this game!!! If you're into colorful storytelling and bold characters, this is the go-to game for you!

Lil' Guardsman has a simple, yet engaging gameplay loop that is enriched with new mechanics every few levels. It stimulates your brain in a chill way, keeping you entertained at all times. Characters are top-notch: it's easy to become invested in their lives. I laughed many times because of a great writing. Also, I would like to thank the creators for designing moral dilemmas that enrich gameplay and teach you something about life (you may get a lower score during your shift, but ultimately do something that benefits the queendom of Sprawl).

This game is pretty good, tried it out on a whim and it's a solid point click puzzle type game. I wouldn't buy it at full price but wait til it's on sale. It's relatively short. It's not really meant for kids, and it's not really meant for adults. I'd say it's more of an inbetween game. The tutorial lasts into the far reaching parts of the end of the game, which is odd but that's a dev choice and no arguments here. There isn't really anything super secret to discover, the game basically handholds you through the "toughest" "catch" if you can even call it that. There's very little "Jailing" to do in this game, the story seems a little rushed as well. I'm sure this game would have been a little bit better and more enjoyable if it had double the amount of chapters in it and really stopped holding your hand. I did enjoy the change of pace and scenery from chapter to chapter having new things to do, but the end section really focused a lot on the war effort and that was quite boring in my opinion. I'd say yes give this game a try, but it really did feel like more of a "prologue" game to a real game that would be coming out in the future. I'd say it's a solid $7-8 pickup game.

Very cozy and funny game, I really wish that there would be a part two since the storyline has a lot of untied ends.

played in two sessions several months apart, had an incredibly fun time. papers please mixed with 90s point & click gags (which they point out themselves lol). pros: humor is 10/10, voice acting 10/10. the ability to skip already heard dialogue is appreciated. i had a lot of fun with the story and characters and i feel like i never knew what was going to happen next. references ABOUND. choices MATTER. cons: pacing can drag sometimes, and Lil's walk cycle is on the slow side; most puzzles can be solved using the same tools (i mean, i bet using the whip is fun, but since i wanted the good ending first it meant i kept using truth spray and the x-ray machine) meaning some solutions are repetitive. the animation is very limited which isn't a problem, but it does stand out with an art style that's so cartoony. i played it with my brother, great for casual play, overall 9/10.
the serial killer disney princess was so memorable, and we love weed wizard.
Decided to try out this game for myself, after watching Jay from Kubz Scouts play it. It's such a funny and quirky game, with a Disney-like yet unique style. I had a relaxing time, with some good laughs.
