The characters in this game are great!! I had a blast getting to know them. This was one of those stories I couldn't put down. The UI was well-designed, so navigation was smooth and gave the story room to flow. A really impressive effort, and I hope to see more from Paper Cat Games.

I just finished case 3 so please don't spoil anything after. Please understand my possible broken English. Also, I play this game on Mac so my experience might differ from Windows players. As an Ace Attorney fan, this game really scratches my itch to play more "detective" game. The story is quite well-made. I cannot say anything after case 3 but I kinda expect it to be good. For art style, it looks pretty well. Some areas feel default-ish to me. The text feels a little bit off. I think it is because some smaller part of the text is smaller than the one texel of evidence picture next to it. Since it is readable, it is fine. Overall, art style is great but UI could be improved a little. The game mechanics are way simpler than Ace Attorney and there is no penalty. I am not familiar with games made with Ren'Py but some part feel default-ish. To be honest, sometimes I worry that I might accidentally break the game when I can scroll my dialog back. There should be something developers can do to make it smoother but I am not really sure.

A (relatively) short Ace Attorney-style game. The plot twists were well-written and the animations are endearing.

I disagree with most of the other reviews here and think the characters were engaging, the cases had relatively good pacing, and the mysteries explored interesting components of law that I wasn't aware of. The logic of the cases was largely sound. For me, this scratches the itch of Ace Attorney, but shouldn't be directly compared to it as this is an indie game. The sound design is amazing. The music hits a chill vibe and makes you feel that dopamine hit of finding the right contradiction by stopping the music when you are correct. I appreciate that, at times, the game recognizes when you are presenting good evidence but not the one they are looking for to progress the narrative and has flavor text describing why they don't think that is the best answer, while also providing a hint for the correct answer in the process. The sprite art is very nice and I appreciate that the characters are relatively well-explored and diverse. Definitely a must-play for any Ace Attorney fan.

I really love this game, the characters are excellent and have me completely invested. There's a walkthrough if you find it too difficult at times (sometimes I know what the evidence I needed to use was just not which statement) there could be some QOL improvements that would say "I think this is right just not to disprove this" or something. Then I learned that it crosses it out and if you move to the correct statement it is no longer crossed out. I.E. even the interface lets you feel like a detective. Apparently some people don't like that but I thought it was super cute. Anyway big fan, it helps you chill out and enjoy an idealistic world for a bit before you return to the grind.

An enjoyable Ace Attorney like. It doesn't have the budget or reach of the originals, but it's got heart and an interesting storyline that explores the complexities of a particular family as a through-line. It has some of the same problems any game of this genre does, which is that if you aren't sure what the game wants for you often it's not going to help you out much to figure it out. The first four cases I want to say I was vibing with it but the final case got nitpicky in the 'I know the argument I ultimately need to make but don't know how to get there' way. Still, since there's no penalty for failure, I'm not going to take indie devs to task for not solving a problem the big games haven't figured out. If you like the genre, this is worth picking up, and I'm curious to see where the team will go next.
