I generally don't post reviews, but the developer (a soloist) has been incredibly patient and responsive to people requesting help or needing small bug fixes, and I've been enjoying the game tremendously.
Okay, I know, "The developer fixes bugs when you find them" isn't much of a reason to buy the game. Buy it because it's fun. It's another entry in the Stardew Valley genre, only this time you're a rancher acquiring and raising animals both mundane and mythical. There's farming, too, but the emphasis and the charm are in the animals. You also have a pet cat.
It says up there that I've played about 40 hours. That doesn't count my time in offline mode. The real number is at least twice that. I dropped a Hamilton to buy this, and I'll get at least 100 hours out of it. Ten cents per hour of entertainment is a pretty good rate for a game.

This game is a hidden gem!
I really like the idea of introducing terraforming and animal taming to the usual mix of farming sim play mechanics and I wish at least one of the two was present in more farming sims. Although the village is comparatively small, there's plenty to see and do. In the beginning I thought the villagers would be very basic and bland types of characters (kinda like NPCs in Fae Farm, another farming sim I've played recently), so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that each of them has their own personality and bits of story to uncover as you get to know them better. I like that this game requires you to explore and discover things for yourself rather than showing you all the available new events and quests on the map in advance.
Most importantly: you can tame capybara. I am in love. ( T v T )

I found this gem while wandering around the simulation games when it was in early access. I got the game for $7, and after playing I can say it definitely has content on par with many $20 games.
Fresh things TA brings to the genre:
-Heavier emphasis on ranching vs farming, but farming still has some variety
-While most farming games have low tech, this setting has high tech-- not only sprinklers but even terraforming
-Emphasis on land stewardship and nature conservation
-A huge amount of wild animals, which you can befriend to have them live on your farm, or move them to the conservatory for research and tourism
-Wild animals are unique and interesting, including many fantasy beasts and cryptids, like the jackalope, griffin, and manticore, alongside real animals, such as foxes, deer, and capibara
-A karma system rewarding the player for doing good deeds, such as restocking the community firewood bin
-Mystical fae leave gifts of essence for players, and you can learn alchemy to make magic fertilizers, on top of regular crafting for things like bird perches, small animal traps, beehives, and sprinklers.
There is no romance in this game, but the characters are unique and full of life. There are 5 levels of affection/friendship for animals and villagers. The game has four seasons and various festivals which allow you to compete for trophies. As you build up your ranch, there are a variety of events based on date, NPC friendship, and even some triggering depending on which animals live on your farm. (I recommend keeping a Brynja for at least a few seasons.) You can upgrade various aspects of your ranch, and also in town to help attract tourists.
There are three different wild area biomes including the swamp, forest, and dunes. There are various spots to fish, and the fishing minigame is more involved than other games of this type. You can craft different types of lures which specialize in different types of fish. You can collect various bugs, fish, and animal byproducts, the last of which you can put on display in your conservatory. (A lot like a museum.)
Overall, this is a really great game, especially for the price. It adds a unique spin on the farming/ranching genre, and the dev is very responsive to feedback and bug reports on the game's discord. Definitely worth a try for people who love this type of game!

Doesn't have the flexibility to play your own way like Stardew does. The first hour really draws you in, and then the residents start nagging you to do things for them like a bad spouse. "Let's see how much karma you can get from helping out the town" before you can use the workshop, for example. So it feels more like you are their servant than helping people. Personally I like to avoid standard farm animals in games because the idea of it stresses me out due to how they are treated in real life, but early on I lost karma for skipping the "chicken drop" and I can't fulfill the town's "request" (a.k.a. mandatory order if you want to use the workshop) to provide eggs. The woman who sells animal feed is around less often than Pierre, so I had to release my first three wild animals back into the wild right away because I didn't know she would be closed all weekend, and they would have gotten sick if I hadn't let them go. Overall I think the game has a lot of potential and really hooked me at the start with terraforming, studying wild animals in their native habitat, and some of the early story dialogue which is quite witty, but it stopped being fun and I won't continue playing it. Leaving a positive review because of how hard indie dev life is

Has been putting a lot of hours into this game. I really enjoyed it, obviously. Characters are cute and very interactive. Animals are really adorable and they even prompt whenever they need milking/shearing. WE CAN RAISE D U C K S. I love how the bio terrains work. Really love how simple the game can be, theres a lot of things to do and explore. However i do hope that we are allowed to save anytime we want, rather than having to go to bed which is the automatic save point. Overall a great game!!

I really like the idea of this. However I play on a laptop and was doing well until I realised that to switch biomes you need to have a mouse scroller so the game is basically unplayable for now. I was able to get around the other bits but decided to put it down until this is fixed. Movement direction of using tools also needs to be worked on as its fiddly and takes time which isn't something you have much of. Love the focus on animals and really wish I could play further.

I absolutely have no idea how this game has just flown under the radar. Charming, rich in story, and perfect in its routine - I am absolutely enamored with everything about this game; the style, the animals, the pacing, the storytelling, the villagers. A complete and utter hidden gem. I haven't had this much fun since Stardew Valley!

Tales of Autumn is a cute and relaxing farming sim that's centered around the care and collection of animals. So not only do you get to keep regular farm animals but also wild ones which you attract by changing the terrain on your ranch.
The villagers are a lovely diverse bunch who actually visit your ranch from time to time and also invite you to take part in the festivals, making you feel like a part of the community. Like most farming sims, you get to fish, mine, forage, mine, craft items and complete quests for the villagers, so new and long time fans of the genre will feel right at home with the game.
The developer is very friendly, receptive to feedback and quick to fix issues. With them at the helm, the game is guaranteed to keep getting better!

This game is wonderful! The animals are cute, the overall designs are adorable. I really enjoy the fact that instead of everyone wanting you to grow crops to get the farm up and functional, these town's people want you to fill your farm with animals! You don't just get basic livestock, you also get to tame wild animals! I like that you get to transform the terrain on your farm to suit which animals you pick. There is so much potential for this game and the developer is constantly working to add more content to the game. The most important part in my opinion is that the Developer is so nice and fixes any kind of problem you face right away. I haven't encountered many bugs but the one i did, he fixed right away. The Dev put his heart and soul into the game and i cannot wait to see this game grow as big as the others.

I've really enjoyed my time with this game so far and I'm excited to play more of it! I'm always looking for games that are "like" Stardew Valley, and so few of them actually give me the same vibe that I'm looking for -- but this one does. It's a smaller world than that game, but definitely an interesting world. It also has its own original ideas and innovations that make gameplay refreshing for this genre.
Instead of only traditional farm animals, there's a variety of different real-life animals as well as fantasy animals. I don't even want to list the types of animals because part of the fun is finding a new one in the wild and learning how to care for it and persuade it to live on your ranch. It's an exciting feeling to spot a creature you haven't seen before, in-game or ever!
Gameplay emphasizes animal care, but also includes farming, fishing, exploring, designing your ranch, befriending NPCs and participating in the community (including community events). It has a karma system that I love, which encourages you to help other villagers! I enjoy the balance of time and things to do; I've played similar games where I felt bored too quickly, but here, I'm always motivated with something to do the next game day.
I really like the whole "vibe" of the game. The art and music are charming and peaceful, and interacting with your animals is so cute! If you like cozy, relaxing games, I recommend this one.
To be honest, I'm often nervous about early access games, but I really appreciate how often the game is updated and how responsive the developer is. It controls well and I have not run into noticeable bugs. I'm already happy with this purchase, as-is, but I'm also confident it will keep growing and improving as a game!
