Currently not much content in the game. The game is *very* similar to Dead Cells (made by the same studio) when it comes to gameplay mechanics. Most of my early playtime was more like: "oh its like in Dead Cells!" when seeing how the combat/gameplay was. Except that if you want to parry in this game, you will need one specific weapon (which i haven't tried), and it's a nice change of pace compared to the excessive parrying you could do in DC. Disregarding similarities with Dead Cells; the game is great in my opinion. I like how simple the combat is to understand, and i love the speed and the wacky build potential. Some of my gripes are: - The camera FOV feels weirdly small sometimes, and it makes the game kind of nauseating to play for too long at a time. And due to the angle, i find it a bit difficult to see some of the enemies attacks, especially the smaller ones. - The "execute" mechanic feels satisfying, but it also feels a bit broken against bosses. Having a free execute from (what seems like) 5% hp on a boss enemy without having to do anything other than react to the very large window of opportunity, doesn't feel very balanced imo. - Ranged weapons feel way too powerful for how easy they are to use. I have had multiple runs, all of them being my best ones, where i was carried by ranged weapons, because i didn't have to dodge as many attacks. Most enemies were stunned as well by the "alter attacks" (this games way of making you use 2 weapons), all of which were very easy to pull off once i got the rythm down. All-in-all this game deserves a 7/10. If you haven't played Dead Cells then i suggest picking up that game first, as it is amazing and both of these games are very similar in gameplay.

So first up, I'm gonna say that this game is pretty decent overall in its current form. So why the negative review? In it's current state, it has some fairly annoying game breaking issues. Problem number 1 is that the game is unbalanced when playing single player. One frustrating way that this shows up is that the timing of enemy attacks makes it hard to deliver most combos. They're easy to dodge, but you have to dodge so often you can't build up to any power attacks, making the combat feel boring and repetitive. (Comparing with Dead Cells or Hades, where the timing is so perfect that a good run feels almost like dancing while in a flow state). When there's a second player, the enemies have to spread out their attacks more, making the combo timing work better. The second major issue is the sudden death / revenge mechanic. When a coop teammate dies, you have to kill a certain number of enemies in a short time period to revive them. However every time I've tried this, I've run out of enemies before I've been able to fill the bar, at which point the rest of the team just dies regardless of health. This means that your run is over the instant any one player dies. I like playing with my kids, but this means I can't "carry" them through a run, the entire team is limited to the weakest link. The developer of this game has a solid pedigree, and I'm sure they'll iron these issues out before it leaves early access. But in it's current form, it still needs some more work before I'd recommend it.

Don't have much experience with rougelites other than Risk of Rain 2 primarily, but a friend recommended this game and I loved it and got a lot of value out of it, They're killing it with the updates and support while listening to community feedback so I believe this game has a bright future ahead of it once it gets more popularized. 9/10

Genuinely having loads of fun with this game. I can see where it can be awkward if you have more than 2 friends you want to play with at any given time, but I wouldn't want to have any more players--3 is a perfect number for it imo. The recent updates have all headed in the right direction in removing choices you never pick or that are underwhelming, so I think the game is on its way to being super good. My only complaint it that I want more! Can't wait for future content.

The game is fun. The default bindings are pretty rough on the thumbs so I suggest re-binding them. Also turning on the auto dash helps. Outside of those suggestions I look forward to the full release.

It is fun, it is engaging and I love this game, the fast paced action and by the Nine Divine i love the banger soundtrack made by Danger. I'm usually not that big on roguelike games but this one really makes me want to play it nonstop. If roguelikes are your thing or even if you wanna give them a try get it, now 🫵 I'm really looking forward to future updates for the game and even some more lore!!!

I'm on the fence right now since it feels heavily designed for co-op with the bosses and crap since I've fought the first boss multiple times and still haven't beat him except once when i had him at the last 8th of his health bar using only ranged weapons and then proceeded to die to his spam of fire wave things and orb bombs. So don't get me wrong it is good but it is also kinda bullshit with how hard it is to beat the first boss and I'm saying this coming from Dead Cells doing a hit-less run through the first area and boss on 2 BC. But maybe this is just a skill issue at the time and I need to level more. Also it does say we are the guinea pigs for the game at this time so maybe there are some balancing issues with single player. Edit: Just beat that boss and almost the last ones but I've found melee weapons are (at least to me) very unbalanced and don't do enough damage whereas ranged weapons are absolutely busted with there movement and damage so there is my opinion.

If you love dead cells or rogue likes then this game will be right up your alley. It is still being developed and so much has been added from when I first got this game. I finished the main story solo and it is definitely challenging! This game is geared towards co op but you can definitely have a blast solo! I am a pretty casual gamer and I unlike some reviews, I do not mind the updates that seem to make it harder for solo play. This game is just a fun beat em up where u can relax and enjoy a pretty fun game-loop. I would recommend picking it up and trying to force your friends to get it too (if you have any ;)

TL;DR if you're a fan of roguelikes/lites and want a co-op experience with a friend, get it. Fluid movement, cool weapon combos, and lots of room to do wacky stuff with friends. The Good: So far I've gotten to the final boss twice, and I must say for an early access game the amount of content is quite impressive. 21 unique weapons which all feel good and vary significantly, lots of perks (called gifts) which can synergize with your weapons, trinkets, other gifts, and also whatever your teammate may have. Especially if you're playing with a friend you can achieve some pretty bonkers builds where your builds synergize with each other and you can melt/cheese enemies in hilarious ways. 90% of my playtime is with a duo, and compared to my solo runs the powerscaling feels pretty much perfect (enemies and bosses are understandably stronger when you have more players with you). The game toes this line where juuuust as you think your runs might get stale, more things become available for you to mess around with and enrich your builds. The game expects you to get better as you play it which is nice, it's tough but not super unforgiving especially with a duo. This game has an extraction element, where once in every biome you encounter these big fish that can bring your loot back to your hub world. In general, I think the distribution of them despite being low, is quite fair, however I would like for there to be another set of them before the final boss. The one pretty unforgiving thing is the low amount of health pickups and options for healing in general, but I like this as over the course of 10 hours you unlock more flasks and also learn to play better to avoid getting hit. Music is also banging. Of course being early access the game has some faults, most of which I expect will be remedied given time. Probably my biggest gripe currently is that despite being able to see your ally and the animations they do, you aren't able to see most of the effects they generate, whether that's fireballs they're shooting, Charge Blade trails and hitboxes, etc. I assume this is a technical limitation as opposed to a design decision, and expect it to be fixed soon. Also, while the game generally does a great job of communicating what each effect of a gift or weapon does (more detailed explanations are easily toggleable), for some things you have to visit the currently super empty wikis (why is my boing fish not charging???) which give you pretty much no answers. My final gripe is that this game has a pretty serious premise, when you launch it even you see this very intense and violent cinematic, almost reminds me of Made in Abyss, but the in game dialogue and story is so goofy and hard to be interested in, I don't think there's a single character I ended up caring about. Story isn't really the focus for this kind of game, but after the expectation set by the opening cinematic I was hoping for more. Overall, solid 8/10, been having great fun with it, and knowing the reputable devs I'm sure issues will keep being worked on, and content will keep being added. I for one will keep playing for many more hours.
