Regulators is a standout indie gem that blends retro pixel art charm with deep tactical gameplay. From the moment I jumped in, I was hooked by its crisp visuals and tight mechanics. The pixel art is absolutely outstanding—vibrant, detailed, and packed with character. It perfectly captures the gritty, chaotic atmosphere of a city overrun by mutating villains. Gameplay is where Regulators truly shines. Every encounter feels strategic and rewarding, thanks to an excellent balance of weapons, gadgets, and unique superpowers. The game encourages smart play and experimentation, and it rewards you for both. The feedback you get as a player—whether through animations, audio cues, or on-screen prompts—is incredibly well designed and made learning the mechanics both fun and intuitive. The story adds another strong layer. While it keeps things straightforward, the narrative is engaging enough to give purpose to each mission and adds personality to your team of mercenaries. Overall, Regulators delivers a thrilling tactical experience that respects your intelligence as a player while offering plenty of fast-paced fun. Whether you're a fan of top-down shooters or just appreciate a well-crafted retro game, this one is well worth your time.

Decently good game for the price 12,57€ for me at release. Lots of weapons to find and small gadgets to help on missions. Your squad member can level up and be upgraded. When you enter a mission you have some choices to make that can help you on that mission. There are hidden areas you can find, so melee some furniture and boxes to reveal the hidden vents and openings. You can see that a lot of love have went into this game. On release it only had a few issues for me. Keep in mind I am playing this on the Steam Deck, so the resolution is 1280 x 800. In the story screens some of the text was overlapping each other. I think it might have something to do with the Steam Decks special aspect ratio. The default twin stick shooter layout on the Steam Deck was set to use the bumpers for shooting and dashing which was very uncomfortable for me, but there is key remapping so I could set them to use the triggers instead. But outside the small quirks the game has, it is good fun. And the battery drain on the Steam Deck is excellent, this game does not sip much battery juice. Frame Limit was set to 60FPS and TDP limit was set to 7 watt, it ran smooth.

Regulators is a very fun, fast-paced twin-stick shooter. The pixel art and music are great. The power-ups and modifiers encourage replays, and the ability for a 2nd player to pick up a controller and seamlessly join is a definite plus. Most of my time has been spent on desktop, and it runs great there, but I can confirm it also runs great on the Steam Deck. If you're into top-down shooters with tight controls and game-play, this one is an easy buy.

This is a great game. Pascal overdid himself. I was afraid that it would be a frantic bullet hell. Like the old cannon fodder on the Amiga. But instead there really is some stealth and tactics there. Also all the small mechanics make everything more dynamic while not making it too complicated. Your assistant even can do some difficult work for you. Really interesting to see how this game evolved and surprised it ended up this great. Go buy and play this.

Bottom line is that this is a fantastic game. It takes some getting used to what the elements are but once you have it, you start to get into the grove. Great attention to details. Orange Pixel never disappoints. I appreciate the YouTube videos about this and other games being developed. It gives a great perspective on what single devs do and the amount of work it takes.
