Xross Dreams Reviews

Head-to-head arcade VS game, where all the characters are puzzle games, you control 2 at a time, and everybody does their own damage. A pre-, mid-, and post-apocalyptic fairy tale that teaches you telepathy if you decipher it properly. An climactic journey through stars and minds and trust.

I love puzzle games, especially most of the games represented in this game. I love competitive games and the act of two players facing off with their chosen style and only their own abilities and planning to fall upon. Xross Dreams should be the perfect game for me, but it falls short in every way it possibly can. Visually it's an awful mess, menu navigation is horrendous, and above all else it's a game released in 2022 with no real controller support?! Xross Dreams is touted as a versus game that you can play offline or online, but I can't do either. Online with rollback is advertised but literally doesn't work, and I can't get the game to allow a local second player to even exist. I have a keyboard and two X-input controllers connected, and all of them can only be used by a single player; once I map controls for one of the players that's it, I can't get a second player in. Even games like Gal Guardians allow a single keyboard to be shared by 2 players at the same time. I could potentially play this as just a single player game, but that's not why I bought. I wanted to play this as a VS game, it sounds great and interesting, and I bet if it actually worked it would be fun. But it doesn't. The game just doesn't work as advertised.
