Loved the scenario. Playing as the British was definitely a fun challenge.

A very good game situated in WW2. I appreciate how historically detailed the game is. A game for WW2 lover and Hongkonger. Glory to Hong Kong!

Another winner by SGS! Just be wary of the number of turns. This game goes by quickly, and before you know it, it's too late to get enough VP for a win. Fun game, though. I recommend!

Well balanced, strong AI on for both sides compared to the other titles. The level 3 trenches are a godsend for the defenders but not so broken that they cannot be defeated, especially because japan gets such a ridiculous amount of replacements. Japanese air force is actually useful compared to its last appearance in SGS titles. This is everything Operation Hawaii should have been, not a repeat of its mistakes.
If you enjoy SGS Winter War you will enjoy this title. Similar vibes with high hit-rate between all units, just with less replacements on the commonwealth side.

My first SGS game and I really enjoy playing this. Solid AI that keeps you on your toes. Its a race against the clock strategy for the Japanese, a delay and retreat strategy for the British. I'm really taken with the choice of subject as well. We don't see much coverage outside the main Pacific battles, so this is a real treat. The history flavour is there in spades, I am inspired to read up on the topic in more detail. I picked this up on offer for less than the price of a pint, and its been worth every penny, I havent been sucked into a game like this for a very long time.

The game is a great introduction to the SGS series. The number of units and direct strategy allowed me to learn the game system which then opened up the other games in the series. Getting the rules down in this game and UI mechanics, allows the player to focus on the strategic situation in the larger and more detailed scenarios in the other titles. A great place to start with the SGS Titles. Looking forward to many more games in the series. A lot of good campaigns yet to be explored.

Very good game, controls are simple and intuitive but dont take away from the strategy.
Its quite unique in that it covers the battle of Hong Kong which i havent seen in a video game before.
The card assisted gameplay allows the devs to share much of the history of the battle in a way many wargames dont.
Battles occurring after movement instead of during makes it easier to keep track of whats happening, especially when it comes to taking losses etc.
Highly recommended!

I really enjoy this series. I've only played Glory Recalled so far, but like so much of what SGS have accomplished i.e, Battles not over represented in modern games, a really thorough UI that allows players a ton of tooltips and different ways of obtaining data, beautiful counters (maybe the best I've seen), fluid play, very interesting historical flavour through the use of cards, committed developers that are constantly improving and updating the game etc.
Even though it's a lost cause trying to save HK, it is a very good fight in doing so. I do look forward to more balanced games in the series though.
This series brought me back to a genre I thought had passed in my life. The fact that it has improved the experience with so many QoL additions excites me as to where they will go from here.

Although I admit I am not the best at strategy games I have thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I would also like to thank the game devs for bringing some attention to the Battle of Hong Kong. As a resident of Hong Kong it fulls me with delight to see the brave men of this colony get the attention they deserve (I especially like the inclusion of John Robert Osborn as a card)
If you're going into this expecting a triple A experience, you're not gonna get it, it's an indie game and it feels like it, but that's not a bad thing.
