I only played this because it was part of the Roxy bundle. Good enough to stick through to the end, not my kind of game though. Take that for what it’s worth.

I only played this one because I’m a fan of the Roxy series. I’m not much of a shooter fan so I can’t say much about this. However, the game was a good price, packs a lot of the charm that the Roxy games did and had a great soundtrack to boot. It was quite pretty as well and I couldn’t find anything wrong with it, so it has my approval. My daughter seemed to like this one more than I did, ha-ha.

This game deserves more love than it's getting on Steam (I assume since it has so few reviews). It's a fun shooter with a cute theme. I found the sounds of this game particularly nice, as they were good fidelity but also easy on the ears (no annoying or grading sound effects). The music was enjoyable as well. The graphics are nice and punch well above the price point of this game.
I had fun getting all 50 achievements. None of them are outrageously hard, so very doable if you are looking for that 100% but you do have to actually do stuff for them, so there is some challenge too.
Pros:
- great look and feel
- great sound and music
- fun to play
- not too short, not too long campaign
- many other game modes, even a somewhat hidden bonus game
- somewhat engaging story
- a variety of foes and characters
- multiple difficulty settings to choose from
- each bird/character you play has different weapons and abilities
- it even has cosmetics in the form of different hats you unlock for your birds
Cons:
- the analog sticks (at least on the current gen Xbox controller) are not proportional, so no fine movement
- cutscenes are a bit slow (you can't speed up the text but you can skip the scenes entirely)
- some may find the game play too repetitive, but it's a shooter, so I forgive this
- the boss fights re fun, but a lot of bosses are similar to one another
- I found one of the birds' weapon annoying because it would overheat and stopped firing

The music in the Brimstone level is especially awesome. Tried this out after trying out the makers Roxy Raccoon game which I did think was neat but this ones even better. I really like the music and the story line is cute. The names of characters are interesting too especially the bad guy boss ones at the end of levels.

As of writing this review, I have finished the campaign and only dabbled in the other modes. Let me start off by saying this review is coming from a fan of the Roxy series and not necessarily that of a hardcore Shoot ‘Em Up player.
The Good:

Cutscenes rather than images and text scene in many shmups.

Subtle nods to the world of Roxy but you don’t need to play any Roxy games to understand.

Each bird’s campaign is completely different.

Wide variety of gameplay.

Great soundtrack.

Nice visuals.

Multiple difficulty levels makes it great for newcomers as well.
The Bad:

While the entire game is enjoyable and I was never bored, it only has a small handful of standout/memorable moments.

Other than separating the game out into branching narratives, it doesn’t do a whole lot to break the mold.

Could’ve used a bit more action in the cutscenes.
TL;DR
A straightforward yet charming shmup. A lot of gameplay variety is on display here as well as landscapes, music & enemy encounters. Decent amount of content at an affordable price. I don’t know if it will convince the hardcore in the crowd but it is great for newcomers & mid level players.

I like it overall. The cavern stages are a 10/10. The sound effects are relaxing, the music is meh, but great on the cavern stages. There is a weird shadow effect which makes you confused on the snow stages. The first world is meh, and I had visibility issues finding my bird character at times. The cavern stages are incredible (some of the best gameplay for any shmup). The snow stages are an in-between. All of the stages are short but sweet. The easy difficulty is easy. This is a decent shmup to relax to. Stress-free for the most part. Everything works the way it's supposed to with a controller or a keyboard. Overall, it's a lean back in your chair game and think about real life issues. This game will take you away from real life stressors.
Relaxation effect-excellent
Music- meh to excellent
Gameplay- relaxing
