Absolute hidden gem.
Great soundtrack and gameplay that feels a lot like the konami arcade games of yore.
Can recommend.

I played this on Switch when it came out and it was good enough for me to support it again, really solid twin-stick shooter with plenty of weapons and subweapons to use. The art is stylish and reminds me a little of Splatoon. It's cool to see this show up on here as Good-Feel also develops games for Nintendo (Kirby's Epic Yarn, Yoshi's Wooly World, Wario Land Shake It, etc.) This is on a much smaller scale than those big-budget games, but very good nonetheless.

The game is good!!
Game feel/Controls: It's a twin stick shooting game in which you go through the levels walking or running and beat the enemies and bosses with the weapons you unlock from the collectables. The controls felt nice, they didn't bug me at any moment. Also there's a tutorial level. As I'm not used to twin stick games, this one felt good to play with a gamepad at least. There's a few "true shmup" kinda levels in some moments too!
Fun/Challenges: The levels are varied enough to keep you entertained, some even have some extra gimmicks. I beat the game in around 3.5 hours. I did find the game a bit easy to complete, I'd say some of the weapons may be a bit overpowered, but other than that it felt rewarding seeing the explosions after defeating a boss for example. Each level has some blueprints that unlock the weapons at the store and also the levels have a baby monkey for you to save. I found the bosses very fun to fight against too. Just be aware that the bosses from the regular levels are generally variations of the same, while the World bosses are the ones that are more unique and fun to fight.
Story: It's simple. The text lines pass a bit too fast and I didn't find a way to reduce the speed. But it was ok. The main point is just shooting the robots on your way anyways.
Music: I liked the music but I do think some tracks were repeated in some places. But I'd say it's very good anyway.
Graphic style: Nice style. The character designs in the cutscenes are pretty good. And the enemies even though are all computerized 'similar-ish' stuff they felt recognizable for the player to know what pattern they would perform right away after seeing them for the first time (obviously).

And it's essencially a singleplayer game since the online mode is dead (yeah, there's even an online mode). It could be nice if there was a 2P mode, but there isn't.

Was a bit shocked that this didn't have more reviews/players.
Pretty short game with low replayability, but is quite fun, looks great, controls well and overall has a Good-Feel (ba dum tshh).

Monkey Barrels was a nice, short twinstick shooter. The weapons being balanced around PVP made the PVE a little bit tougher than it could have been normally. It's very aesthetically-pleasing (to me), and plays snappily. I'm interested in trying Good-Feel's previous games now.

A fun twin stick shooter. Appropriately priced. I played through it on Switch but picked it up for 60 fps on Deck. It’s a bit grindy and whilst there’s a high number of guns, they’re variations on a theme rather than unique.
It is what it is. A solid 7/10.
