Cursed Broom is an absolute delight for anyone who loves a mix of magic, humor, and pixel art. This game may look simple, but it’s packed with charm and offers way more than meets the eye. The pixel art is stunning and full of detail—you can instantly tell the amount of love poured into the design. Each level is varied and makes exploration genuinely rewarding. Mastering this stupid broom is part of the fun, and each level introduces new puzzles and obstacles that make great use of the broom’s “curse.” The controls are precise, and the mix of light puzzles, platforming, and hidden secrets keeps you hooked. It’s perfect for a quick session or hours of play without getting boring. The soundtrack complements the atmosphere beautifully, setting the mood without overpowering the experience. All in all, it's a must-play for fans of pixel games and indie gems. If you’re up for a charming adventure full of spells and puzzles, Cursed Broom is a magical journey worth taking. Rating: 10 / 10 - Bewitchingly Fun!

Cursed broom is a nice little platformer with a unique mechanical gimmick. The main path is shortish, and I haven't done much hunting for optional collectibles outside of the tutorial area yet - I guess you can sink a good deal more time and tries into those. The signature mechanic is the eponymous Cursed Broom. This artifact can fly, but only by building momentum, by wall rebounds, or by environmental boosts. The game could be more verbose in guiding you here - especially the rules of momentum left me confused, and in consequence, some passages felt a little janky, perhaps because there were other intended paths. The wall rebound on the other hand makes for some really interesting interactions - it means the direction you fly (left or right) matters, and you can use obstacles to your advantage by bouncing off of them, occasionally multiple times. Again, what you actually need to do (keep the glide button pressed and just switch directions) could be clearer right away. The artstyle is clean; What you see e.g. in the trailer is what you get, so you'll know right away whether it's your thing or not. The latter part of the world felt kind of bare to me, while earlier on there are nice little details in the level. The soundtrack is catchy and a big plus in my book. It carried the length of the game nicely. A small nitpick: with the option to quit with and without saving, I'd appreciate a warning for the latter. Together with the demo, this led to me playing the sewer level three times over - not a big deal, but easy to avoid IMO with a warning, maybe one that you can opt not to show after the first time.

It is a really cute game! I love the art style! The learning curve is not too steep, however some pieces of paper are really hard to get. I'm not sure, if it is neccessary to collect them all, or if it is some kind of "achievement"? The movement of maya and the controlls are very smooth. Especially when riding the broom. I also like the music a lot! It does really fit with the atmosthere. I usually do not play platformer but I would everyone encurage to try this one. :D I also like, that Maya encurages you to try again, if you failed multipe times to get a jump right.

I had a lot of fun with the demo, playing through it 3 times before the full game came out. Unfortunately, that's where the fun stopped for me. Don't be fooled by the cute graphics, this game gets brutal. After the section represented in the demo, it starts requiring you to master new mechanics with zero explanation and increasingly few practice areas to learn the physics. When I started the last main section of the game, I honestly thought I had to be sequence breaking, but no, the game's required path really is that hard. There are no difficulty options; the ability to slow the game's speed or to have more broom stamina would be welcome additions. By the two hour mark, it took me dozens of attempts for each bit of progress, requiring perfect flight lines and momentum conservation, with certain death if I deviated from the developer's intended (but not visibly marked) path. When that area thankfully ended, so did the game, abruptly, even though I'd thought the main story was just getting started. The in-game maps and switch puzzles from the demo did not appear in the rest of the game. You do not collect any new abilities either, although there are environment-specific effects which can help or hinder your flying. I encourage everyone to try the demo, and buy the game if the fun you had was worth the price, but be warned that the additional content is more like a Meat Boy-style precision gauntlet instead of the Metroidvania feel of the opening area.

I had a lot of fun playing Cursed Broom! The game got a super cute pixel art style and a fun story. The broom mechanic is tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it feels amazing! The controls are smooth, and the platforming challenges are just the right kind of hard, so beating each section feels very rewarding! The music and vibe are spot on and make the whole experience very pleasant. It’s a bit challenging in some areas (especially the hidden paths and collectibles), but if you like a platformer with charm and a little bit of magic, this one is a must-play. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a cute, tough game with lots of heart!

[strike] Cast Away [/strike] Cursed Broom is visually very cute and stunning. The music is amazing and the story is wholesome. In contrast to that the levels get progressively more challenging. Overall I highly recommend this short but charming platformer, if you don’t mind difficult platforming passages.

I absolutely loved playing this game. I had so much fun collecting the pages and doing the jumps. Also the flying with the broom was a lot of fun too! The music, the story, the pixelart and the vibe were perfect. Also I really like doing hard platformers and this one was definetly challenging for me in some parts. I'm so looking forward to collect all the missing pages and put more time into this game. 10/10 would recommend.

TL:DR: Fun Precision Platformer with some major flaws. Buy atm only if you really enjoy platforming. Has the tag Family Friendly, yet its not a walk in the park platformer. Just adding signs for the way would change this review to positive. +Responsive movement with a very creative and (for me) novel way of moving, the broom. Flying through the air, jumping from one wall to another is fun and very satisfying. + Sweet artstyle + no performance issues +/- the game is short, and so is the story +/- the broom fly button is B while the jump button is A. There is no double jump. Why not put both on A? Could make for worse gameplay and as i dont know its not a -, yet mby it could be an easy improvement to the gameplay flow. +/- at least emotionally i wasnt able to finish the game because the last cutscene triggered without me touching the ground and then because of that I fell down and wouldve had to redo a part, but well, cutscene, end. - no tutorial messages how mechanics work make a few things which could be understood in a few seconds take way too long - Level design is majorly flawed at a few points - for one the game is way too short - difficulty goes from 0 to 100, why not add a few easier levels before ramping up difficulty? The movement is really enjoyable and would carry. The Crow/ Raven double jump was only used a few times f.e., wheres more of that? - The thunder clouds are basically the electro smog but invisible, kinda cute but unnecessary in practice - Setting Checkpoints by yourself is kinda cool, yet a few self activating checkpoints would be great, in case one forgets to set their checkpoint, or accidentally resets the checkpoint after falling as the checkpoint button is right next to the jump button without being rebindable. - Navigating the map was terrible for me. Way too much time spent jumping at walls because some are physical, some arent, and questioning my own pathing in general a few times even though I was trying to go the right way. The game would massively profit from signs with arrows.
