WOW WOW WOW!
The game is unoptimized and has a little jank to it, but WOW does this have tons of charm. This thing is BRIMMING with potential.
I played the demo and was like "Yeah okay, that was kinda fun, a little janky, but I'm looking for a new offroading game anyway, I'll toss this guy a 20."
Man did it totally come to life after the demo. Fortunately you don't lose your progress cause the training area is a little boring. I'm still in the first mission and it's been a TON of fun.
Reading the front page I kinda thought "Man this dev is trying to throw too many flavors into the pot all at once and I feel like few of them will taste just right". I was incorrect (thus far, anyway). The fact that night is actually pitch dark leaves you with a sense of tension and stress to get to a campfire before nightfall. EVERY little thing on your vehicle can break. I was just trucking along (albeit a little too fast) and my friver's side steering knuckle bent when I hit a rock I didn't notice.
Much like IRL, I was not entirely disabled and thankfully was able to complete the last parts delivery before resetting, but that was an awesome intense feeling. Now having to navigate climbing rocks with a messed steering position simply from not paying attention. The game has a great risk/reward feeling.
Great job, dev. I look forward to further development.

Picked this up on a whim. Even though it's very early EA, the parts that are in are quite entertaining. After talking to one of the devs their plans for where the game is going have me excited. I think we'll see some pretty fun updates as time goes on.
The vehicle dynamics are a lot of fun, some of it quite challenging. I'd at least recommend watching this game because I think it is going somewhere.

This a very enjoyable game in my opinion. lots of attention to detail in this game, the areas look nice the dialogue that the characters have is nice and shares details about the games story. overall i think the game is really fun and if your into driving, offroading, hauling, exploring, or completing missions/tasks then i think you would enjoy this game.

The game has a LOT of potential to be awesome! The way that the paths change with your continued attempts is super interactive. The areas around the maps are pretty and make the maps feel more real. I look forward to the new maps that get added down the line!

After discovering and then following the development of this game and talking to the developers themselves since late 2021, playing the numerous iterations of the demo, the game does not let me down after following and waiting for release into Early Access.
The complex mechanics of the vehicles and the numerous failures they can suffer at your own hands and exploits, allows you to really feel like the vehicles are an actual analogue of a vehicle as opposed to just a faint representation of one. Being able to bend entire control arms, warp shocks and springs, pop your tyres, hydrolock your cylinders, shatter your differentials or shear your half shafts turning you from a 4X4 capable truck into a 4x2 laden lump with a sloppy differential cause it can no longer convert the torque across the drivetrain.
Mix this along with the fact you need to sit and plan and process putting thought into the routes you take, how many times you take them and the weight and types of loads you take as to determine the state of the trails you leave behind for future trips making it easier or harder to traverse due to how muddy and deep the trails you score after yourself are. Allowing you to leave a physical and permanent mark on the world around you. A feature missing from games like that of Snowrunner and other games where the world building is supposed to be such a strong key feature and selling point but is torn away when you switch regions.
These two points alone promise to bring along a foundation for something truly great, a world that is actually reactive to the player and a set of tools and vehicles that will behave and work only as well as the play treats them, enforcing thought and consequence instead of just mindless recklessness without repercussion.
Offroad: Dead Planet has launched with a limited number of areas (2 as of the time of writing this) but with plenty of content in both, with the developers very responsive and eager to expand and work further on this seemingly passionate project of theirs. (I encourage all to go to their discord linked on this store page as they tend to post small videos and such of what they are working on in advance and converse with others on a regular basis and love to hear feedback.)
All in all, I highly recommend this game, although it is short right now and needs a few touches here and there in regards to optimisation for some lower end hardware, plenty of content is planned and those who haven't played all the previous builds will squeeze a lot more hours out of the current content than someone like myself who has. I can see great things to come for this and intend to keep following and playing with great interest.
