The Survivor model is pretty good and he has a unique personality.
The perks he has on offer are pretty bad, but can be useful to newer players.
The killer, The Artist, is a very powerful one indeed.
Her perks alone are invaluable on any killer and can turn the tide of most matches single handedly.
Her power is tricky to master, but rewarding to learn.
The difficulty is - while one might be able to outsmart players in loops and contrive insta-downs with precision timing and learned shot placement... the truth is that average to advanced survivors are just going to flee to another loop while you set up your little display.
For the most part - the more you learn how to play The Artist, the more boring she becomes - as the most engaging aspect of the game (Mindgames and chases) become an afterthought as you place your crows down and watch with sadness as survivors simply run to the next gym to repeat the process anew.
The perks are worth it, and the Artist is very strong.
Just don't read her lore.
It reads like the writing team died in a horrible laughing gas accident and this is all the interns could come up with. The writing of the lore is unspeakably bad.
Get it on sale if you can. And whatever you do - don't play on the Eyrie of Crows.

Bird mama aka The Artist is such a strong killer. To date she is the only killer that I have been able to successfully achieve 'Adept' with. This means her native perks are amazing because I am at best a mediocre killer under ordinary circumstances. She has the ability to shoot birds to locate survivors. Her birds then mark the survivor to make them moving targets. You can blast the birds in a couple of 'good guess' directions and then know where to go from there. She also moves well so that you can control the map efficiently. Her scourge hook is strong and a pain in the *** for survivors to deal with. Her hex is also great because it can slow down gens if those survivors get greedy and start cleansing totems for no reason. The new survivor Jonas may have a horrible purple shirt but his perks are also decent. I would say that overzealous is good if you don't want to worry about conserving sprint burst. His boon is nice because you can give everyone unbreakable. His other perk corrective action pairs well with other perks. I like to make fun synergistic combos such as: all 4 boons on one totem. Corrective action + prove thy self (for your friends that constantly blow up gens), etc. The combinations and possibilities are endless. Highly recommend!

..anyways, in seriousness, this DLC has both a fun survivor and killer. Both have a few really unique perks, to boot, and I'm a big fan of the weird ink aesthetic. I wouldn't recommend buying it per se, especially since the unique cosmetic is just a red shirt for Jonah - it's approximately comparable to the common-rarity (brown) cosmetics you can see in the store. But if you've got the shards for it, I would definitely recommend picking up these characters. I'm loving them so far.

Whatever you do don't listen to anyone on Reddit. They cry and complain about everything. Do yourself a favor and form your own opinion. Cheers.

A lot of heart has clearly gone into this dlc, a beautifully designed killer with very interesting perks. The survivor perks aren't as interesting with one boon being introduced that might see some use, but the survivor is well designed. The patch also came with some counter-play to the killer that isn't just "Hold W to stall a couple seconds".
On ptb the ONLY TRUE counter-play was to run away from a loop, promoting an unhealthy play style of just running away, which isn't fun to play as or against. If a survivor stayed at the loop, they were guaranteed to get injured without any brain-work from the killer.
Now a survivor can run into the crows, meaning they get a crow attached, but dont instantly lose a health state without the killer putting any effort in. In her ptb state, she was clearly extremely high A, or to some S tier due to the complete lack of counterplay to her kit in chase (see ScottJunds video on her ptb state for more clarity). Some umm...defensive killer players will feel upset at this change, but its literally a completely healthy one. Don't listen to them.
Overall, from ptb to live, the skill ceiling of the killer has rose (and chase lethality stays high), one of her killer perks have been buffed, and survivors have been given a potential counterplay to the killer that isn't just holding w and running away. There isnt much to complain about here.
A new map was also introduced, so i can say this dlc is worth the price: well designed, interesting and viable perks introduced, new map, detailed lore, and is overall beautiful.

One of the strongest ranged killers(aesthetically), awesome ink limbs and appendages, cool crow themed power, what’s not to love? Artist will always be my main until the end of time. :D
