It's frustrating to me, how it's kinda RNG when and where you find science, but now this DLC makes it so there's an unknown, unseen enemy (That somehow feels like it's trying SO DAMN HARD to be XCom's EXALT) and you have but one way to defend yourself, and that's to get to the second to last tier of the DLC's research tier (450 science), otherwise you're betting against RNG screwing you over with propaganda when you're struggling to keep colonists from leaving. There are already a ton of plates to keep in the air. I wish that the other outposts were more straightforward, going as far as sending squads against you or something, but espionage? That's always been my most hated mechanic in any game. Whoops! Guess I gotta put up with quirky RNG or turn off all non-bandit life outside the gate...

Adds a bunch of new buildings that feel like nice endgame rewards, a faction mechanic that I feel makes the world view more worthwhile, but MAN do those factions just never shut up about needing things. Ignoring their requests is like shooting yourself in the foot. The easiest way to manage faction requests is to slow down on location scouting, but then everything takes 6 times as long to get. I like it for the buildings it adds, but it's luck of the draw whether you'll actually get a building you like in your game. Don't look for any deeper story here. The factions don't give you quests or do anything unique from one another. You win them all over the same exact way, all for the reward of no longer being forced to do busywork for them anymore. I think this DLC is a bit overpriced, but at least it adds more than something like Shattered Hope. Get it on a darn good sale, like the rest of them.
