Very vague spoilers ahead
To preface this review, we are an extremely avid gamer and we enjoy games of all shapes and sizes (/m), so it's fair to say that we've played our fair share of games. Out of the probable hundreds of games we've played, this game has EASILY earned its spot in the Top Ten tier list.
As explained in the description to this game, it is made for two people, and only two people. No more, no less. Which we found intriguing as most games have a single player mode. This does not. And the game is better off because of it.
Depending on the character you choose to play as, green coat/red scarf or blue coat/grey scarf, you will end up viewing an entirely different world from that of the other player. Although we technically knew this fact, we had forgotten it and just jumped into the game, and our friend also did not pay attention and so when we got to the point where the world changed into two different realities for us, we just assumed the other person just had some REALLY odd interpretation skills, lol. Of the two worlds that we view, one is this fairy tale-esque landscaping with human like things scattered about (such as pencils, batteries, soda cans, etc), a significant deal of body horror imagery, and all the people you interact with are woodland creatures (ex. you are a duck, your friend is a bear). The other is this industrial, dystopian-like landscaping with piles of scrap metal laying about, no visually disturbing body horror (at least not compared to the other character), and all living creatures look like robots. And rather pleasantly, the meaning behind WHY this is what they see if left up to the interpretation of the individual playing. Both us and our friend had some incredibly deep and meaningful conversations covering this topic alone, the meaning behind WHY. Again, it is left up to interpretation, which really creates some interesting debates and conversation about the way the character are how they are, based off the information that we have.
The game also has this specific mechanic where certain scenes are meant for your eyes and your eyes only. To be honest, we hadn't realised that going through this game (only realised by Bokura: Planet, whoops), however, we think that depending on the style you wish to play, this game specifically, it won't matter AS much as it does in the other game. For example, one of the scenes if where each character goes off to try and convince an adult that just had a fight with their spouse to go back and make up, and we learn the backstory to the adult in question. We believe this is made to give you understanding and sympathy towards the adult your character interacts with, so when the question "do you choose [the] mom, or [the] dad?", both parents have a player trying to advocate for them. For us, it hadn't truly impacted our game play, as even though we spoiled what the other heard, our friend and us still had a lengthy discussion about each parent's perspective and why someone may choose either of them. There is no right or wrong answer, and that's the trick. Something that you as a player and your character will learn,is that the world is more than just black and white. There won't always be a "right" answer. You can only make decisions based on your own knowledge of a situation. For our play-through of the game, again, it hadn't really mattered if we shared the information, as we both have very similar beliefs and understanding of the world and all its trials and tribulations, so our choices always ended up being the same either way. However, we appreciate the thought that went into creating such an environment, in which it demonstrates that there is ALWAYS two sides to a story, there is ALWAYS more than meets the eye. You can't take things at face value as there's always going to be more complex and deeper situations that create difficult decisions.
Moving away from the lore aspect of the game, one of the things we enjoyed about the game was its test of trust. There are parts where you can no longer see the other player, maybe because their landscape is different, or you both had to go down separate paths. When this happened, you have no choice but to rely on your friend and trust that they will tell you how to keep you and them safe. It is also a test on whether or not you can communicate well with your friend. For us, we both kept forgetting to explain some of the views we were seeing, but we still always got the puzzles down while maintaining our sanity, haha.
All in all, this was just a phenomenal game that had us and our friend sitting and conversing deeply about many of the topics and nuances this game brought to us. If you ever get the chance, absolutely take the time to play this with someone else, it's honestly a transformative experience, and a good test for you and your friend(s)'s communication skills. As well, absolutely take the time to replay the game from the other perspective and even make different choices and see how that changes your experience of the game.
Thank you so much to the creators, producers, developers, publishers, literally anyone and everyone that worked on this beautiful game. We had such a blast playing and truly can not recommend it enough.

One of the best puzzle games I've played so far. The storyline is cool and the puzzles use awesome mechanics that will amaze you! All puzzles are doable if you can communicate to each other clearly. Totally recommend this game to anyone who has a friend to play it with and likes puzzle games with a nice story!
Also, play it again after obtaining all achievements (for three times played in total)!

I played this game with my best friend, and we really enjoyed it. From the gameplay and mechanics to the background music, everything is excellent. The story, which at first seemed ordinary, turned out to be deep and touching. Lowkey, this game also changed my perspective on life. Highly recommended 9.5/10.
