It has potential. I would like to give a recommendation but I just can't right now. The tutorial is very lacking, I encountered mechanics in game that I was totally clueless about after doing the tutorial. I k now it is in development and I am sure this will change, but I am just commenting on what it is NOW and what it is currently like to play.
Maybe after some more time I will retry it and see how it is coming along. Like I said, it has potential, a lot of it actually, if it is executed well.

CURRENT REVIEW AS OF 8/17/2024 A LOT HAS CHANGED.
1. Original comment of adding ships and RNG runs has been implemented or at least is part of an end goal! Shows unlockable content and content set for future plans and that has a bit of hope for me to see more to come!
2. Added more modifiers which does at more changes to runs!
3. Seems to be a story at this point and a system dedicated to factions but I haven't played enough to fully unlock them. Seems the game is gearing more towards longterm replayability and faction building per-run.
4. Lasers got a buff...Previously they were hotdog water and while they are 1-turn-and-burn they do a fair bit of respectable damage!
5. Upon my original review in 2022 they did not impliment a way to autofire the cards with low damage but super short cooldown.....Wish they did because if you have two then you have to move to two sides of your hand back and forth to spam them whereas in other cards you just burn, wait, refresh, or reload them.
6. They added the ability to view your deck. This was not in the 2022 version. A HUGE improvement as are modifiers to REMOVE cards you picked that were ass because you misclicked or hate certain cards.
7. Music in one of the battles I had with the "Event" choice was VERY GOOD!
8. Has unlocks with progression for a skill tree to improve and gradually move further in the campaign AGAIN THIS IS NEW SINCE 2022 THIS WAS A MASSIVE UPDATE! You get them from each run...Kinda like achievement points to sink into the tree to purchase perks you can slot in per run. These take what are called "Destiny Points" which are just the amount of points you can use. My damage upgrade took 6 and this shield upgrade I had too 6...I was two over as my cap at the time was 10....You get the picture.
9. So far it's actually kinda fun. Previously it seemed a bit too "Cellphone-y" to call it worth it since it does for a game like it have a bit of a pretty penny for the content it had in 2022. It didn't have really any replayability and it's unlocks were non existant. I had the bones but no meat.
Now I can currently see where it's heading and it looks fun!
NOW FOR RECOMMENDATIONS WITH NEW UPDATE SO FAR!
1. Give me a perk to let the Autoguns.....Automatically Gun....I do not like clicking them repeatedly.
2. Please allow me to click the ship not just the name of the ship to target them....This made me burn a armor shot against a little drone.....Like sinking -6 armor on a 150hp enemy when the 5.7k ship right there was the one I wanted.
3. Make the introduction to the game explain how to discard them better. Rather than right clicking can you make it a left click option and a button on the card saying "RELOAD" to click instead? This is an ask since this seems to not be the route you want to take but making it an option if it's not too much trouble would help!
4. I ran into an enemy with unlimited health or a broken healthbar...Twice....Not sure how that happened. >> Image captured. It had "NaN/322 +112 HP" https://i.imgur.com/TfDADqR.png
5. Game needs a bit easier UI. It's a bit cluttered. Simplify! Make it smaller and specify when focusing on the card what to upgrade!
6. Please tell us why we can't upgrade new cards we get! I can only upgrade the basic cards not like my Cannon or the Torpedo...
7. I ran into an issue where nothing was explained. This has happened before....The guns stopped firing or working. All my cards were red. Nothing I clicked worked. I tried this while cycling shields for about 40 seconds. Nothing fired. I was just resetting shields to the tune of it shooting me and the fight would have gone on as long as I refreshed shields....So softlocked technically. https://i.imgur.com/pgXhvn3.png
8. IF 7 IS AN INTENDED EFFECT TELL ME WHY IT HAPPENS!! GIVE ME A FLASHING WARNING OR A WAY TO FIX IT! Reloading cards did nothing!
Other than that I will change my information as I play more at this time or with more updates!

Void Grimm truly is the very definition of early access: It clearly advertises all the parts of itself that are broken or in progress each time you complete a runthrough.
So why am I recommending it? Because I keep on doing runthroughts.
The real-time nature of the card battle adds a unique (aka stressful) twist to the deckbuilt roguelite genre that is refreshing. I'm definitely holding on to this one and planning on dipping in and out over the years as this little gem receives updates!

Void Grimm is a fast and unforgiving game that wants to challenge you with multiple decisions per second while the dramatic music keeps you engaged. An emotional and physical rollercoaster.

I love the mix of strategy and action in Void Grimm. There is an active pause system that allows you to play the weapons and queue commands, which keeps the game fun, even when there are multiple enemies with various strengths and weaknesses. The meta progression offers a lot of interesting rewards to unlock new playstyles.

The starship combat adventure game Void Grimm released a demo many moons ago as a test bed for its unique real-time card-based combat system. It was different - a curious peek at a more frenzied rather than relaxed Slay The Spire sci-fi contest. Had potential. The developer has now released a massive update that in Early Access adds a host of aspects and features - listed in the update - that make Void Grimm a fine companion to the anticipated Breachway, so far the standard to meet in this ship genre.
You will eventually (!) choose a captain (there are multiples) to provide certain ability cards for your deck. Following is choice of ship (there are multiples) that provide you with peculiar card decks to start with. Heroes can be collected (there are multiples) that form a pool from whence you assign to your ship, each providing noticeable bonuses to ship traits. As with Slay The Spire'a'likes, you can collect equipment, Heroes, and weapon cards as you advance along mission trees. Factions will play a role eventually, beyond currently offering more valuable Heroes for your crew. And throughout a run, you collect resource towards persistent upgrades for further runs... a MUCH welcome aspect to these games.
In combat, cards are first drawn from your deck to give you a full hand. You choose which enemy vessel is the active recipient of your coming attack card play. Each card may have infinite use and a cooldown before you can click it again, or a limited usage, with cooldown, before needing to be reloaded, which you do by returning the card to your deck. When you re-draw the card, it is reloaded. To dismiss a card back to your deck, you right-click it. You can generally dismiss up to 2 cards per period of time. Alternately you can play a card that dismisses your entire hand, drawing a new one.
This may sound a little strange, but in real-time it is very engaging. Adding a meter-based replenishing time-slow mechanic enhances this system. It is fun.
Void Grimm is in EA now, with more to come. A Kickstarter offers additional avenues of support for this developer, who has proven worthy. The full game should be good...

Game is way too short and easy.
You can clear all difficulties in less than 1h.
