Playing for 15 hours? No just no. I have been playing for about 2 hours. The game is an arcade shooter somewhat like a cross between Galaga and Tower defense. Simple, you're assigned to gun turret and need to protect the space station. Wave after wave attack the ship. As you play you accumulate points which can be turned in for upgrades. I think the game is arcade fun like Atari 2800 fun. Graphics are meh for today. Accessible but not much more than that. On sale it is worth 3 Starbucks grande latte's. (my rating system a Grande Latte cost $3.65). So on value it punches a little above it's weight. Will this be a play again and again? No it won't Will this game be a play and forget? Probably. For now it is fun and I will see where it goes from here.

A simple little game that hearkens back to old 90's games.
Control a turret, shoot the enemies, upgrade your stuff. I like it.

Starbase gunship is basically the old Beachhead game in space. :) You can even call it "stationary FPS". As a gunship that must defend the starbase under assault by a drone fleet until the starbase can be evacuated, you alone must hold back the tide when a variety of ships, from scouts to fighters, from torpedoes to cruisers, assault your position, seeking to either shoot or kamikaze into the starbase. Fortunately, you can take the points you gain during the previous attempt as amount of cash to spend to improve your ship to better your chances for your next attempt.
You have up to 4 weapons available: laser, mass driver, missile, gatling. Laser has the best range, but is weak (relatively) compared to other weapons. Mass driver has good range and does huge damage, but requires a bit of a lead. missile requires lock-on and may not turn fast enough to intercept when launched close to target. Finally, gatling gun requires a LOT of lead, but it puts enough volume of fire to saturate an area. However, its range is very low. You need to unlock weapons other than laser, as level 1 laser comes with the ship.
You can also buy additional armor for the starbase, as well as a repair kit that kicks in when it has suffered 50% damage.
Finally, you can add to yourself generator upgrades (which helps with the energy drain by each shot fired, giving you longer sustained volleys), as well as some single-used nukes that wipes out enemies on screen. Provided you have enough "teran cash" (which is your final score when you finish the game, you can then use to upgrade the ship for your next attempt).
In mission one, you are to defend starbase Omicron against 30 waves of drone fleet attacks. Each wave is composed a little differently, from scouts and fighters to torpedoes and cruisers. Scouts don't have weapons except for their kamikaze warhead. Fighters do have lasers. And cruisers have long-range laseAnd in one of the last waves, you'll also see a carrier that will keep launching fighters. Also keep in mind that sometimes, one of the torpedoes may have a nuclear tip, and definitely don't let that his the base. However, you do have a "radiological scan" to spot those when they happen.
THe ultimate objective is to survive for 30 waves, thus fully evacuate the starbase, hopefully without any penalties like losing one or more of the freighters evacuating with refugees.
With three levels of difficulty, while the game does get a bit monotonous, it is still exciting, if a bit shallow.

It's OK but a bit basic. Vulcan and Missiles are too unreliable to use, could use some graphical enhancement - new effects when upgrading weapons. Diverting for a few hours.
