It's alright. It's a game. It has some redeeming qualities.
Better than a lot of the crap coming out of AAA companies these days.
My main complaint is that the lighting is washed out on the first level.
But beyond that, could be a fun little shooter. :-)

9 Hours of game play for .74 cents, yes please! The story was on par and all in all the game was worth my time. I'd like to thank the small team that made it for the good time. If you get it for under $2 it'll be worth your time.

It's a really fun action RPG, although there are few rough spots.
+ Love the character designs
+ Interesting story
+ Shortish game (can be completed in 2 or 3 hours)
- Super annoying invisible walls are everywhere, which prevents me from shooting enemies or getting to certain places
- There's only 1 weapon, with only 1 upgrade option
- RPG mechanics are simple, and don't provide any real "help" to the character
- Slightly unbalanced, some characters can kill you with one shot, and leveling up doesn't seem to increase your damage output at all.
- Environments were a bit generic for me
Overall I really loved playing this little gem.

There are good things in here, but unfortunately bad as well. I have to give it a thumbs down for now, even though I don't really want to. This should be in EA and need some more polishing for one.
A better checkpoint system is also needed and healing options besides the rare potion drops. Melee hit boxes are also a bit frustrating.

Good game, fun combat, nice music. I like supporting solo devs that make games that are fun and this game IS fun. Its got some jank, but not much honestly. Combat and movement feels a smidge floaty but is easily compensated for within a minute or so. There is no loot to speak of besides potions, equipment upgrades come with levels. The levels are nice and varied with some interesting platforming and jumping mechanics employed. Worth a buy.

This game is unfortunately extremely mediocre. It has an interesting presentation, but it also has the bare minimum.
The basic abilities are shoot, punch, throw bombs, dash, and in late game, slow time
Punch and Dash use a stamina meter
Shoot uses bullets, of which you'll have to reload, but you can reload infinitely
Bombs are limited and can be regained by picking up more or dying
Slow time uses its own meter is shares with another ability to see hidden objects
Now the gameplay is okay, it's just not great.
For instance, shooting is extremely basic. You get one gun to shoot from that fires one bullet at a time. You do extra damage for head shots and can detonate bombs by shooting them, but that's about it. There's no charged shots or multishots or any other kind of trick-shot, No different guns or different ammo, just a pistol that shoots normally. You do have to lead your shots since bullets aren't super fast like in most shooters, but that's about all that was interesting.
As for bombs, I never did get a handle on whether there was a special trick to throwing them, so they would often get in my way since they can also hurt the player. Melee was okay, in that it was a single hook, but enemies would deal a good amount of melee damage as well, so this would be best for enemies on your tail that can be taken out in one hit, otherwise, bigger enemies can occasionally add an extra blow while dying.
The melee also takes up a lot of stamina meaning you may not be able to dash after using it. Now, the dash is fine. In fact, it has a neat ability where if you ram into an enemy, it stuns them. However, it can be annoying to use dash to runaway since you can't dash backwards, especially since a lot of areas are small hallways where you'll be chased by skeletons with swords that take quite a few hits. In which case you can slow down time and walk back, if you've unlocked it at that point.
The time slow ability is pretty good besides some issues with reloading while it's active and continuous shots.
I really wanted to like this game a lot, but it's again, so mediocre that it was often a chore to get through.

This Indie Game is a solid 3D Souls Lite style game.
While the graphics are simple and a bit old-school, they are beautiful. There is a variety of enemies to fight who aren't just asset swaps, but they behave distinctly. You can upgrade various aspects of your character, and the story is intriguing. The voice acting for the main character is good, although the number of things he says is somewhat limited.
There are several quality of life upgrades I would recommend to the developer, but this game is a solid B+ in my opinion, and well worth the 79 cents I paid for it during the Steam Winter Sale!
My list of recommendations to the developer:
- Default the mouse sensitivity lower, as it can feel a little motion-sick-y
- Optional 1st person view (for some fights or tight canyons)
- Waypoint marker to indicate where to go, or a compass that at least tells you the rough direction to head
- Putting the upgrades in a tree might make the potent ones feel more valuable. You could also make the cost of double-upgrading the same stat increase
- Audio Slider for SFX vs Voice so I could crank up what the character says
- Some indication of length (like a table of contents for chapters, or % complete notifications, or just notification of progress on "Dead With Head" achievement progress)
- Additional achievements (kill 1k enemies, break 3k pots, throw 100 bombs, 500 melee kills, 500 headshots, etc...)
- Minimap would be an awesome addition
- Additional Upgrades for: Walking Speed, Bullet Speed, Bullet Damage, Melee radius (within reason), Melee damage, Glory Kill chance (and a cool animation for it, I'd suggest melee decapitation to tie into the "no head" theme)
- Some way to regen health (maybe an upgrade for chance to heal 10% after kill, maybe 20% for larger enemies)
- Chance for item drop on enemy kill
- Enemies that call in other enemies (like the werewolf could howl when he notices you, and 2 more spawn and flank in from behind the first)

This game is real bad, like mega super bad. Maybe that means it's kinda fun because you can laugh at the bad but its also very confusing and sloppily put together. I was hoping to meet Devon and earn 1 out of the 5 achievements of this game, to become part of that elite group that has met the Devon. But after meeting him I didn't even get the achievement, whats up with that?
Don't buy this game.

It's a good thing I got this game on sale. I can't believe it's not in early access because that's exactly what the status should be. Dead No-Head is a low-budget third person shooter that is clearly made by a very small indie developer. There is no voice acting, you just read text. There are invisible walls, trees floating off the ground, texture pop-in, frame rate issues, clipping through mountain walls, branches inside bushes can block bullets, you constantly get stuck on just about everything in the environment, and you can even fall out of a map like what happened to me. Bugs aside, the gameplay can get downright frustrating. Enemies rush you fast, so you are constantly running backwards trying to shoot them while they are dodging your shots and then you end up getting stuck in an area and killed easily. There is no manual save and checkpoints are FAR away, so you end up repeating the same lengthy sections over and over again. There is also no map or inventory to manage and you cannot loot bodies because they disappear after you kill them. Many enemies will also stand around and let you shoot them dead if you don't get too close. The platforming sections are especially frustrating because you must jump then press the sprint key in mid-air. And there are numerous platform jumps to make in this game. Also, if you remap WSAD to the arrow keys, you must still press W to climb up ledges. You also cannot crouch so there really is no good way to sneak up on enemies. I finally gave up on like my third attempt through a set of traps after dying and having to repeat the same lengthy prior combat section only to fall through the map inside a cave to some area out the forest/swamps again and I was not able to get back. In my opinion, this game is CLEARLY not ready and should be placed in early access until some major issues are addressed. I cannot recommend this game at all.

Wouldn't really put RPG tag, but what is here is pretty good, especially given the price and fact its the work of a single developer.
The gunplay feels good - you're rewarded handsomely for headshots, and because your main weapon doesn't hitscan but shoots projectiles - you often have to lead the target. This leads to pretty cool player skill based strafing, dashing, jumping, as enemies often get in your face.
There's soulslike element to the game as you die in few hits, but checkpoints are plentiful.
Also, want to praise the music. While simple, it sounds pretty unique, and some soundtracks have this bizarro jazzy tunes to them. I really like it.
Very well worth the money.
