I don't know what those reviews said. I enjoyed this game just like first 2 parts. I wish in next sequel devs include more in-game mechanics that enhances more the quality life of the game. Waiting for the next part👍

I enjoyed the first two entries of the game a lot, but this ain't it. I am not going to go into too much detail since other reviewers pointed out the main flaws much better than I could, but here's a summary of my experience:
- Frustratingly harder than the first two games - I sometimes feel that losing health is just cheap and out of nowhere. I usually do not have time to be scared because I am frustrated instead
- Lack of sensibly placed save points sometimes - a chapter end/cut scene does not necessarily lead to a save (e.g., police station to school)
- The game feels darker than the previous entries (although it may be just an impression) - since I play this exclusively on the steam deck, I really need to make sure to darken the room I'm playing in completely to see anything
- Bad translation, a lot of sentences barely make sense and it feels like they are translated directly from Korean using some sort of automatic translation program

My disappointment is immesurable and my day is ruined. ©
I enjoyed Coma: Cutting class and Coma:Vicious Sisters. Frankly, as I mentioned in my Coma 2 review, Coma 2 was exceptionally good for what it had going for it. And I felt compelled to give Coma 2B a shot.
So, yeah. Coma 2B happened. And it was not good. I was expecting a sort-of a B-plot to the main game, but I didn’t expect so many flaws crammed into such a small game. The only thing that didn’t really change is the artstyle, but everything else suffered a drastic downshift for seemingly no particular reason at all.
First and foremost. The gameplay. At first glance it is the same fumbling in the dark and looking for clues while narrowly avoiding Dark Song. Until you realise that…
- The game has a really hit-or-miss scripted cold opening that took me around 45 minutes to finish. A very cold opening.
- The amount of enemies went up dramatically to the point that they start overlapping in certain areas.
- The amount of stationary enemies/traps went up, turning hallways into literal minefields.
Coma 2B became darker and for some reason constantly challenges one of the most important things in video games - visual clarity. Not only because flashlight felt more limited than before, but also because ‘new’ enemies slap png over your game screen making everything barely distinguishable in the ever present darkness.
- Stamina recovery speed feels artificially slowed down compared to previous games.
- Hiding places feel more scarce or obnoxiosly hidden than before.
- Chases have QTE events to mitigate new gameplay quirks mentioned above. And they are not that good either.
And if everything that I mentioned feels excessive, I share the same sentiment here. Where there was tension now lies annoyance. Having one dangerous enemy with distinct (high heels) sound queues felt creepy. When you have five different enemy types, some of them with zero sound queues whatsoever, it feels annoying. And sprinkle some QTEs on top of it. Delish!
The gameplay part felt devolved. And if the gameplay is not that good, what’s with the story then?
I loved Coma’s setting. I loved the vagueness of Cutting Class and how Coma 2 expanded it into something cohesive. Unfortunately, the story of Coma 2B takes a nosedive in my opinion. Not because it is just bad, but because they are trying to shove an entire light-novel-esque amount of information into a six-hour game. New locations, new characters, a huge chunk of Coma’s world just appears seemingly out of nowhere. And they do it, you might’ve guessed it, though NOTES. The amount of relevant lore you find as notes is frankly ridiculous. And a solid chunk might be related to the next project in this universe, setting up something in the future instead of expanding and explaining ‘the present’. And just as messy as the game lore, the plot inherited this weird structure of a stitched together Frankenstein’s Monster consisting of characters teleporting into relevant places without real rhyme and reason in between. There is no cohesiveness, only stitches.
And I am sorry, but following the story writing the dialogues also took a hit. I didn’t mind the cheesy conversations of previous games. But here they not only went overboards with cheese, especially in the cold opening I mentioned previously, but they also tried to stir some drama that absolutely clashes with whatever they were trying to do. At times it feels like two completely different tones collide to create a supermassive black hole of entertainment.
The last part I’d like to point out is puzzles. Half of them are decent. Half of them require obscene backtracking that felt excessive to the point of feeling like an artificial time-extender. Half of them are just racist to the player, take it as a fair warning, you will probably like to ‘speak to the manager’ after reaching puzzles in Sewa High at 4-hour mark.
I don’t know what became the demise of Coma 2B. Ambitions? Lack of polish? Time crunch? I don't know.
What I do know is that you should probably avoid this game. Especially if you enjoyed Cutting Class and Vicious Sisters. Coma 2B can retroactively ruin your perception of good games in the franchise. But if you feel brave enough, I wish you patience. After all, it might not be a bad game, but it is certainly a bad Coma game in my eyes.
