A beautiful and unsettling game, Nott Longa spirits you away into a realm of eternal darkness. Based on old Italian tradition and folklore, you're left to wander a bleak world full of flickering, glitchy environments, dangerous creatures, and wayward spirits searching for a glimpse of light. If you wish to survive, you will need all of your skill and courage to face what awaits you in the shadows of Nott Longa. A fantastic, unique story that immerses you fully in a world unlike any other, and one I highly recommend you play.

Boring with antiquated controls. Not worth the 99 cents I paid for it.

Very vague gameplay where you can't rely on logic. I was bored and have no motivation to continue. Run into bugs as well - my character got stuck between two objects - I had to restart from the previous save. Then there's also a place where speech text keeps popping up several times in a row without any trigger.
I wasn't a fan of objectification of animals either. Plus not sure where's the horror element as none of this felt uneasy or scary. Not the first time seeing a game where people think that weird and monochrome automatically means horror. It takes more than that, at lest for me...

I'm glad this game exists. A nice short visual experience with puzzle elements. If you are a gaming youtuber or streamer in need of a game to play this Halloween, add this to your list, this game will do the trick!

Absolute solid game for the bit i've played so far.
I'm going to continue to play more of it and keep updated.
I love the atmosphere and just everything about it.
It's very unsettling. You go around doing quests for the people for those who have been sucked into the video game, which now is forever their norm day by day home since they can no longer escape from it, and eventually then turn to ghosts.
I can't stress enough how wonderful this game is.
It's like nothing i've played before.
Psychedelic and philosophical.
Such an immersive experience.
It's my favorite game of this year.
Thank you ! :D

Nott Longa is a nice short game. I would recommend it if you like similar games, don't mind indie games (and are willing to put up with some indie shortcomings), and if the retro/dark look in the screenshots appeals to you.
The gameplay consists of talking to characters, picking up items, and delivering items to characters or using items in specific areas. Most of the gameplay will feel very familiar if you play games like this, although there are a handful of puzzles that require some lateral thinking. There is also one timed sequence that I found was designed a bit too challenging for the kind of game this is and its likely audience; it's not difficult compared to something like Dark Souls, but maybe something to be aware of if that would be a deterrent to you.
The main attraction isn't really the gameplay but rather the setting. The experience is dream-like and has an interesting mix of folklore and meta-videogame self awareness. It feels unsettling throughout, but not in an oppressive way like something like Silent Hill but rather more in the sense of being in a strange and unfamiliar dream. In fact, despite being a "dark" game I would say the "good" ending is actually pretty cute and uplifting. Maybe said another way, although the game feels dream-like it's not a nightmare or even a bad dream, but maybe more of a wistful nostalgic dream?
The interface can be clunky (you use the Z and X keys to interact and I I didn't actually figure out how to exit the game without force quitting in Windows until a second playthrough to get some missing achievements), and there are times when the English translation either feels confusing or possibly missing. Again, if you require AAA production and polish this is probably not the right game for you.
Nott Longa is a short diversion that, while not perfect, feels like it accomplishes what it sets out to do. If you like this style of indie game then I think there are enough good things that I liked about Nott Longa to make it worth your time.

Such a unique narrative game, the closest thing I can compare it is something like 'Doll' by Braisque, it has that gloomy theme to it with philosophical vibes and many strange characters, but with a pretty unique story, something about the game world being a purgatory, a metaphor for being stuck in a nostalgia perhaps, unless maybe I missed the point. Sadly there seem to be a few translation issues, some intentional, some probably not, it's hard to say because the game uses glitchy dialogue for the immersion. I was about to write a very positive review for this game, but then it softlocked near the end, and being a narrative game that nobody plays, I can't even look it up, not to mention it leaves me without an important part to reflect on this experience (I liked the story, I still want to see the #$#$ ending though). I guess I could replay it, it's not very long once you know all the answers to the tricky puzzles, about 2 to 3 hours with no hints, not that any were available when I needed them, but some of the puzzles were pretty creative, like you might have to do things outside of the game, cough cough. It's one of those 'cerebral' games if you know what I mean, weird narrative, strange world, very atmospheric, maybe even experimental to some extent, it has a certain level of escapism which I really enjoy.
It kinda plays like an RPG-Maker game, it uses arrows+Z, and whenever you pick a quest item you just use it in the correct spot. There are some unique puzzle mechanics which I can't mention due to spoilers, but again, you will have to REALLY think outside the box to solve the riddles. I thought the dialogue had a few moments of brilliance, but it was not consistently good, not sure how much the translation came into play, it has some poetry here and there, so you probably not going to get the best experience in English. Some of the conversations felt a little abrupt, I kinda wish you could go back and have more dialogue with all of the characters. If nothing else, I thought the story was different, even if it has some issues, and for someone that plays too many 'unique' psychedelic games, different is good.
Another thing I want to mention is the minimalistic approach to the art style and presentation, it worked for me but I also had some problems with the pathing. I like the overall immersion in the game, that said, I still wish there was more focus on escapism because you don't really get a huge sense of the world being locked between the streets, I wish there were more unique locations in that art style.
Pros:
(+) Overall I think the story was very unique, I don't think that I ever experienced something with a theme like that, the 'Doll' being the closest game with a similar vibe that I played. I enjoyed some parts of the dialogue and characters in general, not sure how much of it can be blamed on translation. I thought the game was somewhat playful with its philosophy themes and poetry, but I can never have enough of that, it was still a little abrupt with some quest lines.
(+) Loving those creative puzzles, I like the one with the password :) and the clock. Maybe some people will find them a bit convoluted, but I know how you rats think over there.
Feedback:
Translation problems? - I honestly can't tell how much of it was NOT intentional, what about that lady in the top right corner, all 8 of her lines not meant to be translated? I feel like you used that as part of the game in some places, so it's a bit confusing. For the most part the dialogue was fun, but some characters didn't really have much to say, I wish you played around more with them.
The Labyrinth - okay yea that part was total Bull****, I have no constructive feedback there, it was really bad. It took me like 40 minutes of trial and error to get through that, like seriously, what a nice change of pace for a game about puzzles, let's see how many people will rage quit right there. I even tried to walk backwards to the door because I thought that was the exit, not.
Softlock (fixed) - [strike] I didn't get to see the ending, the game softlocked after I decided to stay and look around. I also got stuck on terrain a few times. [/strike]
Overall Thoughts: 7/10
I mean if you like just weird exploration games with strange characters, it's a fun world to explore, there are some translation problems and potential glitches, so that lowered the experience for me a little. Not the best, not the worst, kinda in the middle for me, I would say the unique theme of the narrative was the most compelling part of the game, kinda cool visuals too. It really sucks that I didn't get to see the ending, please fix that bug.
