A great finale of a game with a drastic learning curve in the beginning due to less-than-ideal explanations of the combat system. However, after all the patches that have been released, I would dare say that this is the "easiest" game in the series, and I suppose that lines up with Len being the strongest of all the playable characters thus far. Knight's End finishes the Skautfold series in a pretty satisfying way, and ties up just about every plot thread that has been introduced. I personally enjoyed playing through Len's path as the final chapter in this series, and I'm sad to see it end. If you love Lovecraftian horror, start from Shrouded in Sanity and work your way through the games.

Frankly, i liked the previous four games of the series, but this one combat system ain't for me. Up until now, every combat system in each game was action oriented, but suddenly it's a turn based jprg paper/rock/scissor. Shame it's the last of the serie and thus not skippable.

Let's be honest, you are only reading reviews to see if this game measure up to previous installments of the saga. Going to save you some trouble and answer this with a resounding YES, IT DOES. The atmosphere and sound is faithful to what we've been used to so far and, speaking of things to get used to, this game also come in a different "flavor" as we get to play with a more classical RPG style. This time, time bars and a "rock, scissor, paper" style of attack and defense are the bread and butter of the combat system and it's pretty fun once you get used to I'm not going to waste your time anymore as I'm sure the only reason you are even considering this game is beacuse you are a fan of the franchise and have played the other games all this thanks to steam bloody algorythm. Buy the game and see how the story finally end

Knights End - The final part of the Skautfold Series is finally here! Yet again bringing a new style of game play this one features A Timeline based Rpg system while incorporating The Guard System from previous games, The Result fast paced unique combat which like usual takes a while to learn but as soon as perfected Is really fun to play. Lots of different types of enemies keep it interesting with bosses featuring different mechanics which put a spin on what you're normally used to. Now The game is in early access but Is patched extremely frequently and the Dev welcomes feedback and Fixes bugs as soon as they're reported. I'll keep updating the review the more the game is patched but for now I'd recommend it for the combat alone.

This is an admirable entry into a series from a mostly solo developer. It is a very big departure from the others in the series and, although it is very rough around the edges, it is both a neat little romp and worth a look if you've been following the series. The combat system is a little difficult to get a handle on, at first, since there is no tutorial. New players will be well served to read through the instructions on the pause menu, and give it a few tries, since death is not particularly punishing. That being said, if you cannot stand QTEs you will not have a good time, as the combat system is entirely QTE-based.

Scoutfold really likes testing different play styles I'll give him that. This time its turn based with a little pinch of his namely some qtes. This one has metroidvania elements of exploration as well. Its got solid gameplay from my point especially for a turn based game. Requires a bit of polish on those qtes but its been updated frequently so no worries there. I really recommend this and all the Scautfold games. They are severely underrated for the story and atmosphere they throw you in.

Gotta say I loved the other games in the series and I played and finished all of them, but this one is just annoying trash, inconsistent damage and trigger for attacks and a terrible system that punishes more than it rewards, especially with bosses, could not take it too long and leave it, just to try it again with the new updates but didn´t work for me, too bad for a good series to have such a shitty final game.

 Rating:

[x] Recommended at full price
[ ] Recommended at a discount
[ ] Recommended but only at a discount
[ ] Not Recommended
Duration: 7-9 hrs, only one difficulty and 2 optional bosses, very little (if any) replayability Best features: + Turn-based-skill-reliant combat: It´s turn based, BUT timing, dodging and parrying is alot more important than stats, while also retaining a lot of interesting tactics due to the many statuses you can inflict on the enemies, I´ve frankly never seen anything like it and I loved it, fun and addictive. + Fun exploration during the first half of the game: At the start of the game you can explore and find items and weapons and it´s great, but after the roof bossfight it devolved into linear hallways + Interesting storyline and setting, specially if you played the other Skautfold games + Very lenient save-system and punishing but not so much dying penalty Feedback : - Combat can get repetitive, especially once you saw all the enemy types, but you can escape without much consequences so it´s not so bad - Boring second half: after the roof boss fight the level design takes a turn and it suddenly becomes a series of linear hallways with repetitive encounters against 1 new enemy type (repeated until boredom) and some older enemies (which by that point you are already bored with), thankfully you get additional dps to make them go faster, but not fast enough imo - Money is kind of worthless, some items can be important but once you hoard a certain number of them money becomes meaningless, this does have the positive effect of lessening the death penalty (if you choose to respawn in the same room) even more Overall thoughts: This game is great, I don´t know what magic the Skautfold dev wields but he almost always manages to craft an unique yet engaging battle system, the lore and story are also quite cool and if you enjoyed past Skautfold games then I cannot recommend this one enough, even if you dislike turn based games this one has such an unique battle system that it barely feels like one

I played all the previous Skautfold games and was really looking forward to the conclusion. I always thought they were scoped reasonably and didn't punch above their weight, but I think this game underestimated just how much work having clear UI feedback and systems turn-based menu combat requires. The QTE minigames aren't precise, the numbers are completely out of whack balance-wise and there isn't much going on to reward exploration or make you look forward to the next plot beat. It's a real shame and I still recommend all the previous games. Looking forward to what the developer does in the future.

Good so far. Interesting spin on a sort of time-based turn based battle system. Very moody atmosphere, very detailed enemies, and lots of different kinds. Fun sort of metroidvania element to world navigation. Developer puts out patches very quickly.
