dont know if its a bug or something but i tried launching this game multiple times and it kept freezing at 90% loading, then said it was unresponsive i understand its early access and there are going to be bugs but if its fixed in updates then i will change the review Edit: it finally loaded just took a while and it crashed again while trying to return to the main menu i was able to play for a short time and enjoyed the time i played it looks like a great game and im sure if my pc met the system requirements it would run better cant wait to see where this game goes

Animal simulator has some potential, but its so glitchy, and only has had 1 update since release. The hitbox is so stupid, you have to be at an exact angle, to land a hit and the AI is bad, not to mention the fact that you could be a harmless rabbit, and humans try to kill you for no reason, and you run out of stamina like 5 seconds after running, and some enemies are to hard to kill...How does a dog kill a pack of wolves? I get this game is early access, but just by playing in, it seems like it shouldn't even be out yet 1/10

This game has a lot of work to do remember it's only Early Access it is still being worked on other than that this game is really good and I do recommend playing it because the Creator is working on more features for it until then we have this to work with and I am very pleased to be playing it

This game is very clunky and hard to control thus far.. not my best experience in gaming so far.. The graphics are cute though, and the sourced animations are good ones.. For now, I think it's a bit too janky for me to enjoy, but if the controls were a bit less floaty and finnicky, I think I'd genuinely enjoy the game quite a bit :)

I've enjoyed messing with this game....I will continue to mess with it especially when that dragon comes out but right now it's not good. It's really rather bad and that's a shame because fun concept and technically there's lots of stuff to do. Maybe it's just singleplayer (which is the only mode I have played) or something but....here we go. 1. Bad hitboxes. Stuff can hit you easily but you have to be super on point as an animal to defend yourself. This is especially true if you are the horse but while you can hunt stuff enough to survive, any combat mission is a pain. 2. Everyone wants to kill you. Unless you are the horse or the human EVERYONE wants to kill you. I get why folks might be alarmed by some of the animals but....why can you not walk down the suberb town or the city sidewalk as a dog and NOT have totally weaponless random humans chase you around trying to punch you to death? Why does everyone hate the bird? What did that bird do to get every human who spots them wanting to kill them when they also are the friend of apparently the town's protector? Oh and...this isn't just gun holding humans....again. Almost every NPC exept your human character's personal family. Random people walking down the street. Like I said...people who try to punch or kick your character to death when you have done nothing to them. 3. The crocadillian's ability is to dive...and it can't see anything down there. The water is too blue to do any real water exploration. It can't attack or eat while swimming either. Oh and if you get a snake on you, good luck turning around in a way where you can get at its hitbox. 4. You can not see your friend of animal friend's stats even as animal. They just have a health bar that slowly goes down and there's no way to know which need they need. Are they hungry? Sleepy? Thirsty? You can't tell so guess they're just gonna die. Granted...you can get them back but like....they basically become a temp buff really. Or sometimes just a hinderance as the wolf occationally attacks people. 5. The game is buggy. Pick up meat as the raven, try to fly and see what happens. Real slow walking with it to to the point of nearly unusuable. 6. Spawning with too much stuff. I actually would prefer not to spawn in with my animal's animal friend right there ready. I would prefer to earn them and the human doesn't need to spawn with farm animals either. Some maps just give you those and I'm like....why? 7. Can we loose the human sleep bar loss on singleplayer please? The intended multiplayer is one thing but farming on singleplayer would be nuts because you have to take care of both these charicters. The result? Mostly ignore the human completly to run around and explore the maps with the animal. 8. Racoon can't outrun much so if anything agros onto you that you can't take then you're screwed and as stated above everything wants you dead. Including the people you are suppose to be helping protect....including the ones who don't have weapons. Racoons aren't big animals and not well liked but who chases after a racoon to punch and kick it when it was minding its business? 9. Swapping your human friend is bugged right now. The face changes but nothing else does. Want a black guy with white hands? Well this bug is for you. 10. Unnessisary limitations on level selection. Why are the maps restricted when you pick some species? Why can't I take the dog to MOST of them? For some of the ones with less limits you can go with one animal and swap on the map to have that animal anyway but the dog is always exluded. Just let us use all the maps regaurdless. This is an unnessisary restriction and there's not even a visible patturn to it. For example....the croc is not blocked from some regions with barely any water but some creatures are blocked from very random scenic areas. 11. Your inhabitants pay you to protect them. This pops up at the bottom of the screen a lot. In one of the populated arid maps the airplane is parked where driving cars sometimes hit it and some of these warnings seem to be related to that. Uuuuuh....exuse me but you guys crashing into the obveeus airplane there is not my fault. I haven't even moved it. That's where it spawns. Lots of those warnings have nothing to do with anything you're anywhere near either. Somebody somewhere on the map ran off to attack something and then decided to get mad at YOU that they got a scratch so they sent you a snarky Email because you didn't come rescue them. It doesn't seem to HURT much thank goodness but with everything else including the general agression to almost any pet this protector guy has it does have me kind of snickering with a "Really? Do they though?"

This game is fun! however, it is not at all what I expected. Keep in mind it is still in early access but it has a long way to go. Things that need to be fixed that are not necessarily a big issue are: - The dying noises most of the time do not match the animal/person. A boar can sound like a dying woman - You can still die in the loading screen, and then when you die it stops loading you to wherever you wanted to be. - When you die, it will not let you press main menu, only reload. - When switching animals, this did not happen every time but only once, my animal family from the last game switched over to my new animal. I was an elephant and I switched to an alligator. I was an alligator with an elephant family. - Sometimes the eat does not work. This is problematic because you get hungry and thirsty fast. - Switching to animal and human is not ideal. I want to zoom in and out of my animal but if you do, you switch to the human. Things I wish this game had or was: - I wish this game had a natural random. When you walk around, there will be randomly goats and wolves running around and coexisting. There is no natural biomes or places you go to expect the animals, they are just everywhere except for the farm animals kept in a fence. I was hoping for biomes and less random placement and spawning. - Everyone and everything wants to kill you despite what animal you are or what you have done. I feel like depending on the animal and what actions you have shown, then maybe you should be killed but otherwise, you have no chance. It takes out the fun and mystery of it. If you spawn as a crow, you will be shot by a person with no question. A dog? You will be hit. I wish this would only happen if you were perhaps caught stealing chicken eggs, rather than you just are an enemy to everyone. The one thing I did like in this same category is there is spawning points where you can spawn a fight. - I do not like that you have a spawned home and can not change it. I would like there to be more survival aspects, like picking your own home. - I was wishing the birth of children to be more real. Not visually, but time wise. If you have a child, they spawn and grow up in three days. I want there to be wait time before they spawn and I wan there to be a wait time before you can just have another. - The option to have your friends/family to follow you does not work half the time. They will not follow you. - I do not like that you spawn with your animal friend and immediately get to have help and kids. I think you should have to find them. Overall, I think the game is too chaotic random and it doesn't have enough realistic additions. There is not enough struggle that an animal has in the wild.

Honestly I was having fun with the game. but it clearly isn't done by any means. i'd like to see the game under go farther development personally. I'm just happy runnin' around as a wolf XD but other then that there isn't much to do and almost every human on the maps hates you unless it's your human friend. I cant recommend the game at its current price. wait for a sale. I hope this game doesn't become abandonware I wanna see it go somewhere. Still very early.

This game has a great concept. There's 8 animals and 15 maps. I spent 10 months stalking this game for updates. PROS + Varying amount of maps + Good concept of your animal and person working together. CONS - Pausing doesn't pause the game. - Developer hasn't released a single gameplay video since Day 1 release. Only hype trailers about some features and animals. - Developer moved on to a different game, 4 months after release, because this one didn't gain popularity. - Developer has stopped checking in on this and hasn't given an update for our feedback. - Human can die. Quests will revive him. Animal can't die or it's game over. - Swapping Maps and/or animals will keep the meters at the same value. - Unlimited Maps don't generate enemies and water sources outside the initial map area. - Aiming a ranged weapon has the scope in 2nd person. It's to the left of the person and isn't lined up when trying to shoot anything. Haven't played long enough for the following features > Year cycle > Nesting > Buying buildings and building something > Driving vehicles

Once again we see a game with a genuinely great idea that is completely massacred by its execution, even considering that the game is in early access. To what degree are we going to pay for unfinished games based on their potential alone, when the game itself is nearly unplayable? The trailers on the steam page are misleading to say the least. Some things to consider before buying: * Every single loading screen within the game (down to switching animals or opening options) takes at least five minutes without exaggeration. I found myself walking away every time I needed to load a new screen (this will cause Steam to second guess any refunds as a natural playtime around the loading screens becomes bloated). There's also only one song that plays on these loading screens which gets annoying very quickly. This may be fixed as the game continues to update but I wanted the refund issues to be apparent. * The animal models aren't terrible but the gameplay is painful. Controls are strange and janky and most things each animal is meant to do, they can't seem to do it right. This includes soft-blocking issues with skills and activities. You can hope the devs will fix this issue as time goes on but much of this is the crux of the whole experience and right now, it's just not there. * A lot of the game is somehow focused on the human element despite being a supposed animal simulator. You must play the human to accomplish most of the basic tasks which, to me at least, defeats the purpose of the game. * If you are someone who has played any animal simulator games on mobile platforms, sadly this is no different. It operates, runs, looks, and plays exactly like a badly executed mobile game. The environment is empty and boring, the minimap is hard to use and is very similar to mobile minimap styles, and it operates on achievement alone (as in it gives you no real or lasting reward for completing the quests). * The quest system, though I appreciate its implementation, needs a lot of work. Many quests are chosen at random and either don't match with your animal at all, or are at such a level that makes it impossible to complete. Some decent aspects I wanted to mention: * The animal models and animations are actually pretty decent. There aren't many animals but all of them have a realistic look and movement that is pleasant despite the janky controls. The horse could use a little work, often moving too fast for how the camera operates but this could change. * Being able to choose different maps with different climates is very cool and I would hope they could expand on those. This game pushes the idea of what constitutes "Early Access" and what is viable as purchasable content. Perhaps if the devs keep updating, it can turn into not only a playable game, but one that could be quite enjoyable. Until then, it is a $20 half-baked mobile game. I'd actually recommend WolfQuest instead as that's still the leader for animal-sim survival type games. Thanks for reading.
