So so so good. The story had me locked in immediately. Only con is it is pretty short but otherwise a great game.

While the gameplay mechanics are fun and thought-provoking, the story only progresses through 4 days, and only ends up in one ending (assuming you don't trigger any of the game over events). It's fun for the 2-3 hours it might take to finish the game, but unless the game is expanded/extended, not worth it for the price.

This game hit a LOT of buttons for me that I'm not sure I can describe well. If you are a fan of any of the following: CSI, Sherlock Holmes, David Lynch (lightly), X Files ... and probably a lot more examples I can't think of right now ... I would suggest owning this game. My ONLY criticism is that it was a bit on the short side (but my ADHD appreciated being able to actually FINISH a game so there's that) Not a spoiler I don't think, but ... the end kind of hints at a sequel.. I really hope there is one!!

I really liked this game a lot. Up until the last cut-scene. Everything had such good build up, I even liked the twist. But that ending... Why did I spend hours on this game just for
everyone to basically end up dead?
I love games that use a computer or similar device as the interface. This game was good literally 98% of the way through. But the disappointment at the ending was crushing.
There should be a way to get a good ending for the game. Or at the very least I wish it was left open ended what happened to Evan. Like having him go missing with Alexandra. Is it like in bad taste to have happy endings for games nowadays? I feel like so many games nowadays just are obsessed with killing every one of its main characters, and to me it feels like I've wasted my time.
If you like games that take hours of your time and make it all mean nothing, you'll love this game. It all just feels too cynical to me.

Aesthetically pleasing, good story with at the very least, decent voice acting if not great. Runs well. An interesting gameplay mechanic that has you sitting at your desk, putting together pieces of the puzzles as agents sweep the field for evidence and follow the leads you help develop. The story has you unraveling a conspiracy, using computer tools, metadata, and analyzing software to pull the narrative together. It's fascinating, and the game does a really good job at making you feel like you're truly a professional analyst, solving crimes from the comfort of a desk in Washington DC.
Problem is, the game is pretty darn short. Only about 4 hours of gameplay, and it feels deeply on rails, to the point that the puzzle portion of it feels more like a addon to the rest of the game. If you subscribe to the $1 per hour mindset, even discounted to $9, this game is technically not worth it, as the game has limited replayability. Though, the game does make up for it with the story and gameplay to a degree. It is, at the very least, a pretty impactful 4 hours, and you could get somewhat different results if you repeat the story, so there is a small sense that your choices matter.
I might just be spoiled, coming off of The Roottrees are Dead which had a fairly similar premise of using a computer to uncover information that can fill in the blanks. But in TRaD, they introduce you to the tools and then you spend a bulk of the time using them on your own to fill in profiles on the family tree. There was a lot more blanks to fill in and time to spend fiddling around with information. With TO, you get introduced to cool mechanics and tools on your computer, and then use almost none of them ever again. The game feels like a 4 hour tutorial other than the story, which takes interesting turns and, as a flipside, keeps the player continously faced with new and interesting problems to solve. It sucks not being able to repeatedly use a mechanic I got familiar with or a handbook I just learned, but every in-game day pulls me straight in with a curveball, gameplay wise or story wise.
The ending kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. AFAIK, your choices don't really seem to affect the ending from what I saw online in guides and gameplay.
Still gonna leave it as a positive review, because I quite enjoyed this and I think the devs are absolutely cooking here. I just hope the developers consider putting more meat on the bones of TO2, because it feels like there is a ton of potential for a truly great puzzle/detective game here that only gets partially realized.

Good Music, good ambient sound, story is pretty good, although short (~3hours, maybe less). Definitely had the potential to have more, or rather it makes you wish for more. Still recommending, because taking everything in account, the game is great.

A cautions recommendation for fans of investigation games. The Operator feels like a distant successor to (the great) Her Story with much less FMV and much more variety in gameplay. It's very well presented for a game composed mostly of interfaces and files, which supports immersion into the life of the protagonist. But it's also strictly linear, offering only the illusion of choice in dialogues and about zero replay value. Expect to complete it in 3 to 4 hours.
