I would strongly recommend this game! I am a friend of Talha's and this is one of the most unique experiences you can get. If you want to participate in a modern story told by a passionate individual this is the place for it. The art, the mechanics, the dialogues, everything flowed together really succinctly. It's a short game but at 5$ an hour just for a straight-forward run and not much side-content it's a steal.

Gameplay is really smooth and fun. Offers you everything you would look for in a hack and slash with a different story experience. I definitely recommend!

The main character Anna takes drugs to grow weapons and kill monsters called parasites.
An short side scrolling beat'em up with a gentle upgrade system.
Combat can just as easily be precise as button-mashy, and if you're watching the screen you should have no problem getting through the game easily. Movement itself is fairly smooth and responsive in combat, as well as the combat area constrained, you'll never be too far from an enemy so combat goes quickly from one to another and the player usually has the option to be completely healed between combats at no expense to the player.
Between chapters, an *also* gently-psychedelic cutscene barely exploring the character's life difficulties, but no concept is explored too far as to over-focus on it other than the drug element, which gets a pass for being a passive gameplay mechanic.
The key, albiet only true sell the game has is it's style and possibly soundtrack.
If you're into the style of the game's presentation, buy it on sale.
It's not worth $15, but it might be worth 5-7.

This is a very nice game with an interesting story, tight combat mechanics coupled with great music and sound design.
It's funky graphics goes great with the trippy parts of the storyline. There are lots of real moments to relate in its weird, trippy scifi story.
Recommend.

Amazing game. It especially hits hard for since I am also an immigrant living away from friends/family trying to survive in a country which I don't speak the language of. Really unique art, excellent music and a great relatable story. 9/10

Playing this, I am reminded how much I love combat-centric games where you can press any button in any order and it does something different even if you don't intend for it to. The difference here is you would have to be a bit more up close and personal but that doesn't take away how fun it is to beat up some of my mental problems or the type of people I dislike, like 'antisocial creep'.
It may be me but I can never get tired of this type of game, as long as I can see what I'm doing and the enemies aren't too sponging to defeat. This isn't the case here at least on normal difficulty. I'm not one to challenge myself with harder difficulty but if you want there's an option for it if you want to compete with yourself.
As for the story, I like how this game discusses problems like awkward relationships, friend betrayal and the survival of keeping your job. All of this is extended especially when our character is an immigrant trying to adapt to another country, learning its language and culture which is an issue you don't commonly see in video games. I'm thankful this game showcases problems people may not think twice about so they can witness the struggles people may have to face with these challenges.
When it comes to the gameplay you'll find you would have to make decisions on whether you want to spend your currency earned on completing missions on new stuff that will enable you in combat capability like no combat button press or attack enhancement like adding freeze or damage number to your attacks. Or stuff outside of battles, like taking language classes so you'll be able to understand other NPCs or you won't be able to have a full conversation with them.
If you're someone who mostly cares about the combat or you are a story-driven person both of those are possibilities you can take away from this game and feel pleased with the experience to conclude from.

Was torn between an extremely light thumps up or a thumbs down, but because of the price and the currently high positive review ratio, I've decided to go with a thumbs down.
Going in I had a feeling based on the style of the game and the trailer that it was either gonna be really good or really bad. And tbh, it's neither.
The general aesthetic and style of the game is I would say overall good. Lots of interesting stuff visually going on throughout the game, and the soundtrack is great.
The story starts off pretty interesting but doesn't really follow through all that well and is a bit all over the place. The ending is ehhhhhhh.
However, the main issue with the game IMO is the core gameplay, which is the combat, which is what you will be doing for 80% of the game. It starts off simple enough. A bit button mashy with the enemies being rather basic and easy to deal with. And then as time goes on.............it doesn't really change much. There are a ton of upgrades and "new" enemy types, but at the end of the day the gameplay largely remains the same, uninteresting. If any of you have played the game "Guacamelee", Imagine that, but with the color mechanic completely removed and a bit sloppier over all.
TL;DR: The game starts off strong, but the gameplay/story ends up being extremely underwhelming. At a deep discount this would be a super light recommendation, but at full price there are many other games I would suggest you check out instead.

TL;DR: beautifully executed story (both witty and creepy), engaging action gameplay.
I've been following Kayabros for a while, so this was a first day buy for me, even though I wasn't sure if I'd like it as much as their previous pc game (Soul Searching).
After playing a nice chunk of the game, I can say I'm pleasantly suprised, this is another solid entry to their catalogue. I was expecting a depressing story from start to end, but to my suprise, the delivery of story is not heavy-handed at all, witty writing makes you laugh at unexpected times and there are weird twists to it at every corner that keeps you tense and invested. Also game is really polished, sounds and music are top notch, and it's much more entertaining than how trailers make it seem (at least to me)
Without much spoilers, the basic premise is: You're an immigrant, hired to kill monsters. Your work uniform is your power gloves and you're popping some kind of a pill to enhance your inner beast. Sometimes you work solo, sometimes with your colleagues, who sometimes forgot you're there and start to chat in their own language between themselves and now you're getting a bit paranoid. It's these kind of moments that makes the game shine.
Action / combat gameplay is pretty engaging, you'll need to observe monster behaviours and adapt your movements, simple button-mashing won't cut it in every occasion. Difficulty is handled very elegantly (there is a spin-wheel that can grant you extra bonuses when you die, which I've found pretty useful for my taste). There are a lot of upgrades which you can use to spice your combat style with.
I just wish there was a bestiary to re-read the funny names/descriptions of all enemies I beat up, lol.
