At first, I would like to say that Cade Prime worth its price - only one buck, but don't expect anything really innovative. This game uses the Unreal Engine, but its dev team has chosen an ugly omnipresent green color - and really it hurts eyes. I don't understand this choice, but I guess it takes all kinds to make a world. Why not? However, some visuals effects are really impressive. Cade Prime is not a traditional puzzle game like Portal or Antichamber. Instead you have to find some clues here and there. Sometimes it seems to me that it is more an exploration game than a puzzle game. There are some visual bugs, but the controller works well as expected. The big problem is that there is no saving system - and it is really annoying to restart all levels again each time. Furthermore, the difficulty curve is bad. You start with some blocks to push in little rooms, and quickly you fall in a huge hangar which is really hard to solve.  In conclusion, Cade Prime is an interesting project for a while, but it needs to be improved by its dev team. Honestly, there is still a lot of work to be done ++

I dont usually write Reviews for indie games, but this "thing" rubbed me the wrong way a bit too much. So what is "CADE PRIME"? - A quadruple Assetflip bunched together. - It literally uses the demo levels of the Assetpacks linked below as the entire games content - Green - a complete mess Assetpacks (Appear in this order in the game with pretty much zero changes to the levels themselves.): 1: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/advanced-puzzle-constructor 2: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/first-person-puzzle-template 3: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/ultimate-fps-puzzle-kit 4: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/puzzle-logic-system 1, 3, 4 have playable Demos on the store page, which is the stuff that is in this game. (which means, you can play 3/4 of the game for free, in way better graphics, if you really want to give this a go.) 2 has a video of what appears in this game, but in green: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=450TtZhl0Js
That aside, lets get into the other stuff that this game does not have:
- A menu (Esc closes the game) - Graphics options - Sound options - Keybindings - Mouse settings - Loading and Saving - any artistical direction - selfmade content or to put it in different words: it doesnt even have the most basic functionality you would expect from any game.
The things the game has:
- sometimes First Person Gameplay, sometimes 3rd person - depending on which assetpack you are currently playing. - wonky physics - a soundtrack which definitely doesnt belong into a puzzle game, but rather into a club - red/green/blue boxes you have to move around... which you cant distinguish from each other because everything is green. - a mix of different UIs, if there is one (each assetpack has its own) - sometimes it has a crosshair, which is really useful when aiming - different mouse sensitivities depending on assetpack - the most basic puzzle gameplay you can imagine... because it is made up out of demo maps that were meant for developers.
Conclusion:
I stumbled upon this thing by accident, when I was scrolling through the store frontpage instead of playing Final Fantasy 14, like I should have been doing instead... would have saved me this "experience", but at least I can warn others now - so it has had something positive after all. I played through the entirety of this thing and I still have no idea what the purpose of a game is that is made from Assetpacks that were given away by epic for free at some point and where the only content is the demo maps of said assetpacks that everyone can just download for themselves... for free. Nothing in this game fits together, it lacks the most basic things, it looks like garbage in comparison to what the Assetpacks should look like... I just dont know who is supposed to play this.
I highly recommend to play any other (actual) puzzle game instead of this, its a waste of time. (If you really want to try this, get the free Assetpack-demos, they even look better.)
EDIT: If you dont believe me, remember: you can refund within 2 hours of playtime or 14 days after purchase, whatever you will reach first.
