Hmmm. I go not recommended. I find the controls clumsy and the game-play fairly uninspiring and slow. The alien world almost feels cool but doesn't quite manage to be sufficiently alien or awe-inspiring. The weird fake speech and faux soviet-era-technology/clothing-crossed-with-a-tribal-vibe are also probably supposed to add to novelty and the feel of an alien culture exploring an even more alien world, but they don't quite achieve that effect. The whole art direction is actually like that - a near miss. It doesn't quite gel for me - I think because none of them are all that alien. They are semi-familiar things mixed in a way that is supposed to be alien but just comes across as a hodge-podge of 'I've seen all of this before'. I also find it weird that I am flying a 'Jett' that acts more like a skimmer. It is really quite annoying to tumble into a ditch/ravine and then have to go the long way around to get out because you cannot fly or even jump very well. It is also very slow and frustrating when moving without the 'scramjet' and yet way too fast when moving with the scramjet in a tight space. And in an open space, as soon as it starts to get fun and mayb even a bit exhilarating the engine runs out of 'surge' and forces you to slow down. It's like it doesn't want you to spread your wings, so to speak. And on that - as others have noted - it is very restrictive in what the missions will let you do. You can't be free, at least not in the first campaign, and I don't think I am going to stick it out to the second one. Oh well. I am JETTisoning this one I guess. Harf harf.
