I liked it. It's not perfect, but I did enjoy my time with it. Art direction and atmosphere were fantastic. Really terrific, creepy, gross designs that remaining great throughout the whole thing. The story however was ......fine, it could have been smoothed out and refined a bit. It wasn't terrible, but combined with some really abrupt (and somewhat vague) endings, I think could have used a bit more time to cook, as they say. Combat was there. That's really all I can say. It was rare, and when you were in combat, it was really basic. I for one liked not having much combat, to me this is more of a creepy puzzle horror that should't have much. Controls were a bit jank and clunky, but serviceable. I think a large part of that are fixed camera, so it just feels part of the deal. I liked the puzzles. Some were a bit easy, but some took a bit, so I felt it was a decent mix. All in all, it felt like one area it absolutely crushed it, and then a lot of other things that were just.... almost there. Not mind blowing, not bad, but decent. Overall a more positive than negative time, but could use a bit more refinement. I think if you like the old school horror vibe that comes with some jank and some quirks here and there, you'll enjoy it.

Good little game, janky in all the ways I love about old horror games but also a couple ways I don't mostly due to weird graphical issues I pin on it being made in Unreal One thing I gotta knock it for is if you're gonna offer a tank controls option, please actually test how it works on an analog stick. Using tank controls in this game will have you spinning out of control unless you're using the D pad but that's not very comfortable Otherwise I really appreciate this short and sweet experience for what it is: a 5 hour throwback to the PS1/2 style survival horror genre, fixed camera angles and everything, and I had a good time with it. Sidenote I don't get what's up with the reviews saying the game was confusing. It's pretty straightforward if you have a little reading comprehension

While the game is a little jank, which is absolutely fine for its price point, the atmosphere is great! But I'm sorry, the tedious Basketball puzzle and the immediatly following obtuse metronome puzzle just made me angry. I had to look up a let's play to realize I can adjust the speed of the metronome and I still had no clue as to what to set it. just completely sucked the fun out for me. This game is for smarter and more patient people than me.

The story and atmosphere of this game is really solid and they have a good thing going, but there are a few things that's a bit undercooked. Overall solid 6.5/10 game would recommend playing it if it's on sale. Hope the devs keep up the good work!

the game has issues like bugs and stuff which most of what i encountered i assume are easily fixed, will they fix them? i dont know, regardless, if psychological horror is your favorite genre then you should play it, if not then i dont know, i had fun regardless but im easy to please, i dont know if you going to like the game if you're not into this genre.

Nah. It seemed fine at first, I was really enjoying the Resident Evil style gameplay and framework, and drawing me into the puzzles was well done. But then we switched to first person, and it lost the vibe and I wasn't willing to carry on. Whoever decided that the puzzle should be bracketed by having to wade through water with a giant dumb fucking fish arbitrarily harming you really ruined the game for me. There was literally no reason for making that choice, except maybe an homage to Amnesia. And thus, the game for me ends there. Very pretty, very impressive art. Neat puzzles as far as I got, but just not compelling enough to get through that first section of first person crap with that fucking fish. Mostly because by the time you get there, any investment you have in the characters is thrown in the trash. So why would I proceed when I don't even know why the first character is there and haven't any clue about the second one? There also isn't... "full voice acting". Only a few lines are voiced. You know what has full voice acting? Disco Elysium. You know what doesn't? Post Trauma. And thus, the review for me ends there.

as of this review ive only made it to act 3 and this will include minor spoilers so if you want to exp this game spoiler free then all ill say is wait for this to go on sale before buying it cause its only worth $10 or less imo. with that said if your looking for a game that evokes the feeling of old ps2 silent hill games then this is ok. not good not great but just ok. the puzzles arent hard to figure out but some solutions are kinda bs. for example the fuse puzzle is easy to figure out tho which switches are the correct ones to flip arent as easy to discern. it was the only puzzle so far that ive had to google the solution for because i was able to figure out what letters needed flipped but it was very finicky on what switches were the right ones to flip. also the color door puzzle felt kind of wonky. i got the solution right but it felt like i had to redo it several times before it actually registered that i did it correctly. also the ammo feels way too sparce in the beginning. and i can see why most players give up before finishing act 3 or hell dont even make it passed act 2. the inventory space feels way too small. sure theres a separate space for key items but its kinda dumb that on normal difficulty there are only 5 slots. 3 of which can by taken up by weapons leaving only 2 free spots for ammo and health. id understand limiting it in this way for hard mode but normal mode should have more slots to work with imo. and if they dont want to do that for normal mode then the devs should add an easy mode especially for players who just want to enjoy the story. the voice acting is good not bad but still could use some improvements. the dialogue can be too quite at times but i do like that the main character is bilingual and even tho my Japanese is limited it dose sound very authentic when he defaults to Japanese in high stress situations. you dont really get to the first boss until act 3 and because of how sparce ammo and health are it can easily lead to situations where your stuck with melee combat for enemies and the first boss and while dodging feels responsive it also feel out of place for a horror game that is trying to evoke the same feeling and gameplay of old ps2 games. dodging can be great in horror games however it should be reserved for action horror instead of survival horror. with all that said as of now id give this game a 5/10. if the devs were to tweak some things and add some improvements then id feel more comfortably bumping my score up but as it stands this game is just meh so far. edit: ok after having finally beating the game i only have one other minor issue with this game. it needs to pick a lane in terms of camera perspective. the majority of it is fixed angels similar to silent hill 2 and resident evil code veronica but there are some sections where its over the shoulder and some where its first person. im ok with the pov for carlos sections but they need to stick to either third person over the shoulder or fixed angels for roman. or hell maybe make it a toggle option before starting the game like that update for resident evil village. other than that my rating still stands at a 5/10

As someone who enjoys playing retro survival horror theme games, I had a good time for a weekend. If you enjoy solving puzzles in a scary scenario with mainly fixed camera angles, you'll have fun. The price is okay, especially when you consider that it was made by a small indie studio. I would be happy to see more in the future, even if a few things could be improved here and there. -Combat is a bit “clunky” -A chest system is good, but I never needed to pay attention to my inventory. I love stories, characters and their backstories and I tried to dive into it.. but.. I feel like there is something missing. There could be more information or explanations in the world to recognize a connection between the characters (maybe I missed something?)

I'm roughly two hours in but feel I am able to give an honest review of Post Trauma. Let me start by saying I am very torn on this, but I will get the bad out of the way first. I excitedly bought it during the re-launch & decided to play it immediately. My initial concern was that as an Unreal Engine developer myself, the texture pop in really threw me off. I have an extremely capable system to run this on, yet I find that the obscene pop-in takes me out of the atmosphere a lot. To combat this, I would have hidden a camera in the scene & triggered this at the start of a level & had it fly through the scene to eliminate most of this, or have it compile shaders before starting. It sounds like a nit-pick but this game has some of the worst pop in I have seen in a video game. The first person section with Carlos seems poorly executed in comparison. The collision is bad & I was able to walk up on the boxes inside the evidence room & get my head stuck through the ceiling. Again, nit picky, but it does paint a picture of what exactly the rest of the game will most end up like. I find it also suffers from a bit of an identity crisis where everyone these days wants to be Silent Hill instead of making something very cool & unique. Because of that, the story is very vague & leaves you with many unanswered questions. Questions I think that should start to be answered by now. Or at the very least start giving more clues as to what is going on. I hope it doesn't turn out to be about someone suffering PTSD, or use mental health in a way that the old Bloober games did. But I won't judge it until I know more, just know that the first two hours seem to be a very slow burn. Onto the good stuff. The third person setting with Roman is great. It really lets the set pieces come to life. The fixed camera angles are great, and the camera movements on a spline really show that the developers know their cinematography. I feel more immersed in these sections that the first person areas. The animations for Roman are great with everything being seamless. Lowering his head to get past pipes hanging down, having his head look at interactive items and places of interest. It's great animation work, with the animation BP probably being one of the highlights for me. Voice acting is generally good with most of the cast doing a fantastic job. Having known & worked with Autumn Ivy myself, I knew that when I saw her name, it was going to be great. Music also is very good, fits the theme & feel of the story & makes me feel dread in all the right places. Puzzles are great too, with many of them needing a decent amount of thought to go into each one. It feels fresh & different to many other games I have played which is good. Combat is serviceable but I know it isn't the main focus of the game, so it gets a pass. Overall I would say it's an okay experience but I do find myself getting bored from time to time. I wish more happened in between those moments of exploration with more things to do. (As I said, slow burn). Ultimately I recommend it even with it's jank & minor issues with bugs & questionable design choices. I think for the absolute die hard horror fans they may be more brutal about it, but I think if you can appreciate what they are trying to create here you will overlook it & find some comfort in it's design.

Do like Jank? Do you like confusing puzzles? Do you like gross beasts and tenticles? This game has it all. Also the ending is weird and I have too many questions. Was good enough for the price and took me about 7 hours to figure it out.
