Ultimaze is a hidden gem of puzzle games. 200 puzzles and every puzzle is on one screen so you can take in all the information at once. There's a huge variety of game elements that come together in the puzzles which makes it a very cerebral experience. For the price, it's an easy recommend.

This game is fun. It doesn't have a deep story, or a soundtrack orchestrated by Hans Zimmer himself. However, it does have fun puzzles without interruptions, or distractions. This is the kind of game that you can just pick up after getting home from a long day. Play your favorite ambient artist, have an extra nice brownie or some juice, and just chill with a few puzzles. Buy it, it's a good time.

ultimaze is a simple-looking puzzler with 200 labyrinthine levels and a ton of different mechanics (portals, keys, switches, disappearing tiles, block-pushing, magnets, springs, ice, bombs, etc.). levels are unlocked one by one, but there's a skip level button, so you can keep progressing if you get stuck on one. skipped levels weren't marked initially, so after a while it was problematic to remember what you hadn't actually solved, but a patch eventually took care of it.
no move limit or timer on the levels, but there are a few timing-based mechanics and a time limit can be set on custom levels in the editor, so I guess it's possible that some regular levels also have a timer (didn't try them all). undo works from a fail state, so if you happen to step on the wrong thing, no problem. you can only carry one item for the most part (there's an item that extends the inventory), stepping on another replaces the current one and whatever you're holding can also be dropped.
controls aren't rebindable. wasd/arrows to move (can be held), space/shift to drop or activate an item, 'z' is undo (can also be held), 'r' is level reset, esc toggles full screen. the menu is always visible and can be navigated with the mouse. there's a handy block guide that explains what everything does, but level names usually provide a hint on what needs to be done. a level editor is also available with its own guide. no workshop support, level codes have to be shared.
it doesn't look or sound flashy, no music at all, but there's a volume slider for the effects, a player speed setting (always nice) and a brightness slider to make the background less blindingly white. windowed mode offers various sizes as well, but there is no exit button, have to switch to windowed mode and close the game like that, or press good old alt+f4.
while it might not look like much, plenty of content, great puzzle variety and a low price make it an easy recommendation.
