I've played almost all of the FIven-BN games and this is one of my most favorites. I especially appreciate the overall calm mood of the game where both the great visuals and relaxing music contribute to this atmosphere. I highly recommend it. Thanks.

I like the improved background music - peaceful instead of threatening and warlike. The extra puzzles were better than usual.

Whoever designed the puzzles in this game should consider retiring from game design. It's just dreadful to play.

This is a very good HOG in most ways, except the voice acting. The main game protagonist talks like she is dead. The ancient one is not much better. How about some emotions?
Tough, unique puzzles. Good story. Good HO scenes.

This is the Hidden Object game sequel to LT: Stolen Life. Before I even begin the review I just want to say that I appreciate the story continuing directly from the end of the first game. I really liked the first one so having a nice cohesive story to continue really enhanced the experience. Now let's get on with the review!
Cataclysm starts with the vision of a volcano erupting which will destroy the world. You are now in control of the witch who helped the protagonist in the first game. You have to journey to the island where the volcano is and try to stop the disaster from happening!
Legendary Tales is my favorite Hidden Object series so far. I truly enjoyed the first one and Cataclysm is very much like the first game. There aren't really any new things in it aside from the story. You will still be clicking around looking for objects to start puzzles or move you further into new maps. So if you played the first one, there isn't much difference here.
I will say however that the puzzles were really good in this one. This is the first time in a Hidden Object game where I knew how to solve every puzzle that was presented to me. I still skipped some because sometimes I was in a time crunch or the way to get to the solution was too time consuming/irritating. But kudos to the developers for making your puzzles understandable and not too confusing. I also praise the fact that you can always skip them and incur no penalties to the story overall. Showing respect to the player's time is something I will always praise developers for. There's a hint button if you ever get stuck and a handy "strategy guide" button on the top left of your screen at all times if you need to know where to go.
My only gripe with this game is the same thing I have for most hidden object games. A lot of times there are places you are supposed to click to get objects you need and you can't find them because your mouse cursor doesn't change to show you that it's a new object. So often I would get lost for a bit only to find out, "hey that bed of flowers to the left is actually clickable and not just part of the background". I guess I may be just spoiled by Point and Click games, but it still causes some frustration nonetheless.
Final verdict? If you like Hidden Object games, then I highly recommend this one. I recommend playing Stolen Life first if you haven't played it as Cataclysm assumes you have played that one first. When you run into past characters from the first game, you might get a lil lost as to why they are important if you don't play it. Aside from that, I really enjoyed this game. The bonus chapter was a nice addition as well, letting you play an event that happens during the main story as a different character(s). So ready your brain and go save the world from the Cataclysm! Thanks for reading!
