The game is enjoyable and does nothing inherently wrong, but it also fails to introduce anything truly new. The gameplay aligns well with expectations for a top-down arcade racer, striking a good balance between control and visual flair. The car selection is satisfactory, though the limited variety of liveries feels restrictive. The tracks themselves are engaging and complement the gameplay nicely, leaving you wishing for a free-roam mode akin to what Art of Rally offers. The realistic art style is serviceable and maintains clarity during gameplay. However, the distinction between countries often feels superficial; environmental props are reused excessively, with only occasional country-specific structures. These unique elements are frequently repeated across multiple tracks within the same region, which detracts from the sense of variety. On the technical side, the game is stable, and I encountered no bugs during gameplay. However, playing on a super ultrawide (32:9) monitor results in menu glitches, likely because the developer optimized only for standard ultrawide (21:9) setups. While the game is fun for arcade racing fans, its biggest issue lies in its positioning relative to Rush Rally 3. Aside from the top-down camera angle, there’s little to differentiate this title, making it feel more like an extended DLC or a mod than a fully justified standalone game. This is especially notable given the identical pricing, which forces players to choose or pay twice for largely overlapping experiences. The design choice to separate the two games may stem from technical constraints, such as overhanging trees in Rush Rally 3, but the result still feels like an unnecessary split. To truly stand out, the game would benefit from more attention to its environments to make each location feel unique. A simple and impactful addition could be a tilt-shift camera effect, which would enhance the aesthetic and give the game a distinctive visual identity. Considering the ease of implementing such a feature using readily available Unity assets, this could be an excellent (and hopefully free) post-launch update. Overall, while the game feels like a slightly modified version of Rush Rally 3, it is still worth picking up on discount for fans of Art of Rally or similar games. However, at full price, it struggles to justify itself as a standalone title.

Is to Colin McRae Rally what Super Woden GP 2 is to Gran Turismo. Sublime handling and great track selection, with just the right amount of arcade polish to keep it snappy and moreish.

Of all modern "retro" arcade-y rally games I've tried, this probably has the most satisfying sideways-feeling. Short stages, perfect for handheld gaming, and works perfect on the Steam Deck. With the low price of games like these you probably don't have to settle for one, but if you had to pick one, this would be my number one retro rally.

Excellent game, beautiful graphics and great handling. However I think the camera could offer more options. Turn speed & height. Helicopter gives best forward view, but cornering is made more difficult than it need be, by the slow camera turn. There are a good selection of tracks and cars, and plenty of medals to win.

This game satisfies my itch for playing rally without the hassle of setting a wheel up. The driving model is satisfying and with 8 countries with 6 stages each, it has a lot of explore. At the same time I have a lot of issues with the game. The unlock and upgrade system is very unsatisfying. Both are based on how much you drive but each car that is unlocked is class D. Even the last car. So while you drive and upgrade your first car to unlock a car that you actually need, by the time you get it, it feels like a downgrade. Then you need to drive that car to unlock its upgrades. It's an unnecessary grind and kills the fun. I wish the cars you unlock later were of higher class already. Driving off road isn't as penalizing as it should be, there are no ditches or uneven surface. It's flat. You just don't accelerate but keep the speed you are already at. But I think that works for the top down perspective and style this game is going for. All that said, it's still really fun to play.
