Not a terrible game, but extremely casual and overall pretty boring and uninteresting gameplay. One of the positive reviews says this is a 2 hour metroidvania..........not even close. I fully completed the game missing only 1 item in 33 minutes. I had several issues with the game. -Movement is uninteresting -level and enemy design is extremely simplistic and poses zero challenge -couldnt get the game to run above 30fps which looked terrible even though the trailer seems to be 60fps -extremely short with no replayability. It tries to nudge you towards replaying with some in-game speedrun support however, because player movement and level design is so limited and basic, there really isn't much you could do in a speedrun other than simply memorizing a route. For positives, I would say the music is decent and the overall syle of the game is appealing. There just isn't enough here to bother with and the difficulty and skill ceiling is so low the game is just boring from start to finish.

A 2 hour long metroidvania that feels like a cross between metroid, aquaria, and MS Paint. For the given price it is worth it, especially on sale. The good: - music - progression - metroidvania feel - controls The bad: - No warp (hence lots of unnecessary backtracking) - Too easy - Choppy framerate (unity lag) edit: To the creator of this game: Please try contacting the creator of Aggelos, he will probably be able to help you make the framerate smooth.

A sweet-as-heck mini metroidvania, which I 100% completed in just over an hour. By design, it's not very difficult, so it's the perfect game to cosy up with (for me personally, it was ideal on the Steam Deck). Very reminiscent of the indie classic Ikachan.

This is a fun little game. It's nice to find a underwater metroidvania game that can be beat in a few hours. The controls work great on PC and the steam deck.

It's fine enough and playable underwater metroidvanias are somewhat uncommon. The biggest issue I had with Aqua Boy is that you can't aim in full 360 degrees (at least not on an Xbox controller), only 90 degree angles. Something I feel is important in an underwater mertroidvania. There is something about the movement too. I don't feel as though I have regular full fluidity of movement. Occasionally I'd want to inch up to something and my character would travel farther than I'd have wanted him too. Almost like you are moving on an invisible grid of squares, but the squares are farther apart from one another than is usual in other games. These problems would be inexcusable in a full length game, but a shorter game like this can get away with it without it persisting long enough to really annoy. In any case, this is a good casual dip into the underwater MV genre, worth a play.

This is a short but very charming game. I'm a sucker to see a classic get second life and if you're a "find all the things" kind of person there's a fair amount to do after finishing the main campaign. More like this, please.
