The game feels well polished and I personally have not been affected by and game breaking bugs in my 90 minutes of game time. The sound effects, music, graphics, dialogue and story all feel original, which is hard to find these days. However, the game play, mechanics and obstacles feel similar to other games I have played in the past (Mario is the big name that comes to mind), and this is hard to shake when this comparison has been established. The game play elements are well introduced, so that the player knows what he will need to deal with in future chapters of the story. The majority of boss fights I have played are diverse, fun and challenging, however, the spaceship boss fight has twitchy controls, and as I found pretty quickly, you can just press the up arrow after evading the rockets to beat the boss. One negative to all boss fights is the lack of communication to the player saying which controls he needs to use (in some cases the mouse and in others the keyboard, which might not be a problem on a controller).
My main worry with this game is that it targeting the wrong audience. This game has simple mechanics, a small download size and is kid friendly, which could be a great game for a mobile game audience.
Big kudos to the game developer who has clearly put a lot of thought into this game. It is hard to believe that a single person is behind the entire game due to its execution and originality. I look forward to finishing the game.
