Fun P&C adventure. Herman Merman stole the show.

Pretty fun game, great mystery and art too! The characters are well-done, and the story line is sufficiently convoluted as all detective stories should be :)

As a lover of point and clicks, this hits the spot. The setting is surprisingly cozy- on a train with some ambient storm sounds- and it looks great. also, the voice acting is AWESOME.

Loco Motive is an absolute gem of a game that beautifully captures the heart and soul of classic point-and-click adventures while delivering a fresh, modern experience. From the moment the title screen appears, you're treated to a delightful combination of nostalgic charm and slick, contemporary polish. The background music perfectly sets the tone, blending whimsical melodies with suspenseful undertones that match the game's quirky and mysterious atmosphere. The art and animations are fantastic, each scene is packed with character and detail, with smooth transitions and expressive character designs that really bring the world to life. What truly makes Loco Motive stand out is its humour and storytelling. The writing is clever, witty, and filled with laugh-out-loud moments, yet the story still manages to feel engaging and well-paced. The voice acting is top-notch across the board, with each character brought to life with distinct and memorable performances. Playing Loco Motive felt like stepping back into the golden age of LucasArts style adventures. It’s streamlined where it needs to be, yet still rich with puzzles, personality, and charm. If you're a fan of point-and-click adventures, or just love games that make you smile while keeping you entertained, Loco Motive is a must-play. It’s a modern classic with an old-school soul.

The story is very entertaining, had me guessing a lot who the murderer was! The way the story is told with the 3 seperate point of views, is very cool. The pixelart is beautifull, not a masterpiece, but very good. I generally don't like voice acting, but this game, I listened to all of it, it was a nice addition. The puzzles were cool, there's a hint system too, however a very few times I had to get some tips from other players/ a guide. There are "missable" achievements, so that would be for your 2nd playthrough (or save often). The game had a lot of delays, but in the end, it feels solid. After reading some other reviews I want to add: I liked the humor alot And as some have said, most of the game takes place in the train, I think they should have more locations next time, but it's fine in this game. Every time you think you have seen all locations on the train, you get a new secret side location. I think the main story is about 8-10 hours long I recommend this game, definitely 8/10

OK, I usually give a thumb up to any pixel adventure games because these games are much more scarce nowadays. For this one I wish I can have a meh option but I still give it a yes painfully. The pros:

Very fine pixel arts
All interactable items can be highlighted so there is no grinding of pixel-hunting
Great voice acting
Now comes to the cons:

It's been about 8 months since this game was released and it is still buggy. In the end of chapter 2 as far as I remember, there is only sound of Don but not his figure after fake chips are confiscated. I guess it is not designed like that on purpose.
It is very annoying indeed to walk back and forth the train. Is it possible to add a fast travel button so that we can select which carriage to go to?
Boring gameplay due to endless walking and clicking. There are only a few scenes in the game and it gets old pretty fast.
Much room for improvement and painstakingly playable. 5.5 out of 10.

There were a couple of spots where I had no idea what to do, and the answer ended up feeling like, "oh, yeah, sure, I guess." And when I would use the built-in tip hotline, I had to get to the last hint to get any info on the part I was stuck on, which was the tiniest bit annoying. That being said, the vast majority of the experience was such a delight. I personally liked that the setting was contained within one spot (for most of the game) as it made the changes in the environment a lot easier to keep track of/notice. The full voice acting was very fun to listen to, even if one was difficult to listen to at times (HERRRRRMAN MERRRRRMAN). And it would be a disservice not to mention how nice it was to watch all of the sprites/animations. It was really nice to have a game that didn't require a ton of thinking, but was actively enjoyable the whole way through.

Impressions after an hour: Fantastic comedic murder mystery point-and-click set on a train, in the vein of Lucasarts with amazing animation. Full voice acting. The animation is quite impressive, and it gives me the vibes of The Last Express mixed with Monkey Island. The writing is really good so far, the humour is on point and not too obnoxious for an adventure game.

Best golden-age adventure I've played in years. YEARS. Detailed animation, spirited VA, and memorable characters with a hilarious script that punches with the heavyweight classics like Full Throttle and Zak McCracken...without the more esoteric puzzles. Absolutely worth whatever they're charging now. Buy it. Stop waffling. BUY IT

This is a difficult to review to write, because I really liked this game in so many ways. The humour is unmistakably Monkey Island, as is much of the style, and it was great to experience that type of game play again after all these years. But after only a few hours of playing, it just got mind-numbingly tedious. As far as I can tell, I'm only about half-way through, and I just can't find the motivation to keep going. The problem is that unlike Monkey Island, this game was doomed from day-one due to single unavoidable fact: the action takes place on a train. One of the best aspects of the Monkey series was the exploration, even the very first map had the circus, the sword master, the used-ship emporium etc. You always had the sense that there was something new, something funny to see just around the corner. With Loco, you run back and forth. And then back and forth again. And then back and forth some more. After a few hours, you're starting to grow weary of it all, going over all the same places again and again trying to figure out what you've missed. Yeah, they manage to squeeze in a few creative side locations, but it's not enough to negate the fact that at the end of the day, you're still on a train. And because of that, the game ultimately devolves into a never-ending succession of trying to figure out which random item to use with which other random item, with nothing to guide you other than your own sheer persistence and determination. Great concept, and well executed, to be fair. But I just can't recommend a game that I lost all interest in half-way through.
