this is basically the only graphic adventure game of all time.

This is still fun, with an interesting story and world! I enjoy the various characters and they use real-live actors to play the parts. It was probably a great way to get nice looking characters with the limited graphics options at the time it was made.
I would describe it as kind of Myst-Plus as it is in that same genre but the puzzles are much more difficult and more math seems to be involved. You will want some scratch paper kept nearby to take notes.
Also, you can't rely on a walkthru to give you the exact answer to all the puzzles. Many of the puzzles are the type that are reset to a random solution every time you load a new game or even every time you try a choice. You have to use logic to figure things out. This is a thinking game.
This is the sort of game for when you want to exercise your brain in a unique way. And, if your brain gets too tired of the current puzzle that one of the characters is stuck on, you can switch to the other character's viewpoint to refresh yourself.

The downsides:
Some users are reporting that they are unable to run the game at all. But, you'll find that out quick and can refund if that is an issue. For me, it runs excellent without any trouble so far. The only thing I found is that I can't take in-game screenshots to Steam.
This is a 20 year old game. With mechanics and graphics that were excellent at that time, but still a 20 year old game. If you want 4k realistic graphics, this is not that.
Movement in this game is limited. You can always look all around you at the horizon (click your left mouse button and drag). Sometimes you can also look up and/or down. Moving forward is a single click and your character moves to the next preset stopping place. You can't just freely explore like in more modern games.

For the lack of reviews:
Apparently the game playtime counter isn't working for everyone. If you look at the discussion page, you'll see users who have beat the game and yet it still says they have played less than 1 minute, so they can't leave a review. But, it worked fine for me so that may be fixed.
If you want to see how much players enjoy Schizm, look at the reviews for the newer game by this developer, Nemezis. Reviews for Nemzis are mixed, but look at how people talk favorably for Schizm.

Overall, this is a great game to try if you enjoy puzzle games that make you think!
