I enjoy the implementation of growing and buying seeds and lab work. I appreciate the setting as well, but to echo the points of a few others my biggest issue is that there is just too much commuting. One thing about the first game is that while, yes, there is some running back and forth a big element was smuggling things across checkpoints too which added a layer of interest to break up the commute. There are vehicles and busses, but the vehicles are annoying cause you have to park them in designated spots and then remember to collect them later because if not you are walking.... Boats are able to freely traverse but still have to dock at designated docks so I don't see why they didn't just make them fast travel points same as cars.
The main take-away is that the main hook isn't there. There is too much tedium in travelling. The devs should make travel more interesting by adding more checkpoints, more guards or some POI's/ random encounters or something to reward the banal footwork.

Bugs, bugs, bugs, and more bugs. Even after this long since it came out there's still game breaking quest bugs.

Since Schedule 1 is out, there is not need to dump money into this greedy studio. Dont waste your time on a game which is full of bugs (many are game braking, where you can't continue to progress), which never gets optimized.
Still at lategame, you run around and doing things like growing, packing, etc. while its promised to feel like a kingpin.
Did i mention, that you can't drive cars or shoot guns? Cars are only for fast travel teleporting and melee combat is clunky as hell (no range weapons in game). Boat physics are non existing aswell.
Devs never listen to community and try to remove negative feedback and they wants to charge for a dlc, even the game is in a beta status.
Buy Schedule 1, its way more polished, has more content, is nearly bugfree and well optimized.

Kind of a disappointment:
1. Setting - Lame
My guess is they wanted to capitalize on the "Narcos" hype, which is expired by the year this game released in. For me it would have been better if the game was set in a NY inspired large city.
2. Vehicles - Lame
At first I thought this game was going to feature real time driving, checkpoints, etc. Fast travel is bad imo.
3. Weapons - *sigh*
No fire arms.
Don't get me wrong, it's a decent game, it can scratch your itch after DDS1, but it could have been much much better. Take notes from Schedule 1.
Would I recommend it? Yeah, sure, but doesn't live up the hype.
6/10...

cool game but lots of room for improvements and expansion the ai needs looking at eg the police are to keen it should be random on stops not every time you pass them also the game needs runners or assistant or assistants as you get bigger you can not be in two places at once you make the stuff or you deliver there a gap you can not do both well you can but not to he scale you need as you will run out of raw materials maybe a smuggles drop in the game would be good like you order raw materials/chemical and wait for random drop to come then you could have is it safe to get them??? well that my thoughts most of all its a good game just need tidying thanks

It's hard to say one way or the other.
I loved DDS 1, the mixing mechanics had a real draw and the environments felt appropriately dingey and cramped.
Albeit it'd be poor to compare the first title to the second as they're different beasts but I do miss the mixing, it's like they went in a different direction.
Whilst playing the second title,
I had a saved game from release that was complete but since many updates, that file no longer functions correctly.
It's just somewhat poorly optimised but this is a trend that carries from the first title, perhaps the devs are just finding their own space at their own pace.
Play with friends, this is not an intended solo experience.

As addicted (ironically) I got to this game I cannot in good conscious suggest it to others. The game feels poorly made in comparison to the first. Which is rather weird to be the case. A crafting mechanic half shoved in, removal of the mixing mechanic of the first game, distributors which help make the game easier but almost remove your purpose. Things just dont line up well. You truck along hoping for some payoff or purpose greater than grind for a bigger boat / house until you hit endgame and then... you quit. These devs decided to clearly phone it in with a herculean level grind at the end that purely serves to pad out play time for their game. That is if anyone would even do it. The only reason I got this many hours in fact is due to needing to restart my whole save due to a game breaking bug surviving through two major patches. I have to say devs, do better. Fix your actual progression denying bugs and make an endgame that isnt a pointless mindless unfun grind.

Did I enjoy it? yes, but overall very disappointed.
Pros:
- Better UI & Interface than DDS1
- Good mini map
- Having distributors was a great addition
- Having dealers bring you the cash was a good addition
- Interesting recipes & methods for making product
- Map is very beautiful
- Better feeling of control of your organisation
- Special clients is an interesting touch
- Multiplayer was a good add on (even though I’ve never played multiplayer)
- Better way of managing clients
- Big interesting variety of lab equipment
- DIY table, making lock picks & explosives was interesting
- Influencers were interesting to increase rep in an area
- Always enjoyed the music….other than one of the songs in the rave bar in the bay
Cons:
- The map being x6 lager than DDS1 but feels so empty & lifeless
- Cutting your product, having a lab tec making product & addictiveness/overdoses should’ve come out on release, not several months/nearly a year later
- None of the characters or the story have substance to them, never felt connected or drawn in by either
- I felt more like heisenberg than I did a cartel boss even with throwing money at my lab tec I still spent most of my time gathering ingredients and “cooking”/Growing
- Pushed out updates but never really felt quality tested and ran in to just as many bugs/crashes than I did in the last update (see all previous reviews from others or go on post from Reddit users to see more details)
- I felt punished for defending myself against thugs. You’ll get a good slap with a “person of interest” leading to a raid for holding your own, I get it you do crime people get upset but it felt over the top at times
- (Don’t read this part for spoilers) I lost all motivation when the Mexican cartel wanted me to make packed lunches for the rebels to “prove myself” why couldn’t supply them with explosives, make weapons at the DIY table or supply them with money instead?
- The police don’t cause me as much anxiety as they did in the 1st….they’re just annoying NPCs on patrol
- Poor system for bribing officers to get out of a search. There is literally a police station in every town, why can’t I just bribe the officer/chief behind the desk to get rid of the “person of interest” or stop police searches for a day or 2?
- Influencers were meh, interesting idea but could have been a boss?
With the story taking place post Pablo Escobars death. My takeaway from the trailer, I thought I’d be taking on other bosses/cartels who want to make a name for themselves post Pablo by blowing up compounds, taking labs & fighting their thugs to gain control of territories but nope. There’s no grit to this game. There’s no real competition, I was trying to make it Eddies story before he moved to the states and his struggles but honestly, it hardly a cartel/dealer sim, it’s too peaceful and pretty.
Even though the game is listed as complete it honestly still feels like early access. I had much higher hopes for it.
To end it all as this review has taken me a lot of time and thought. I think overall it’s not a bad game and is different in good ways from the 1st but also poor in other ways. If you want to buy it, then buy it when its on sale. I’d highly recommend DDS1 with the economic overall mod (although they don’t allow full mod support for either which sucks because I like to see other peoples creativity).
This will be left as a negative review for the time being unless they make some good changes. I have a lot of hope for this franchise which I dearly love but other developers are catching onto this genre and are making games (which I I won’t name out of respect to this team) who could blow this out of them out of the water. Maybe they need the competition to make them more competitive and put out something more gripping.
Apologies for the poor grammar and lengthy review, I just feel very passionate about this subject.

First game was superior in just about every way. This is a game that should've been early access at least, but probably should've just taken another year or two to work on it.
