Pretty Girls Breakout! Reviews

Easily the crappiest breakout clone ever.

How do we make Breakout more fun and innovative? I know, let's add a bunch of annoying features and throw a whole bunch of shit at the player so they're just constantly mashing the swing button and can't properly aim. Everyone loves when you take the skill out of game and make it so it's pure luck. Also, no paddle. You have to swing a bat at the ball. I'll admit, Zoo games are not that... deep. Lots of them are cookie cutter and share UI and characters so if you seen one you've kind of seen them all, but the games are usually so classic that you can't really muck them up. Casio card games, various forms of Mahjong, some random puzzles games. Simple games that are cheap that you usually buy because you like the genre and you figure why not add some cute anime girls to them for the heck of it. Pretty Girls Breakout felt more annoying than fun and I actually do kind of like Zoo games. Even the ones I don't like I kind of just see as innocent fun, but... I just didn't like this. Even the girls didn't help out in this one as many of the outfits were just plain boring. Way too many shrine maidens and yukatas. Characters were probably from some game about shrine maidens. Nothing really cute, creative, or even sexy. The last character, Laty, probably had the best outfits because she was the only character who was allowed to not have half her outfits be shrine maiden getups. Not saying a Shrine Maiden can't be cute. Just saying when there are 8 girls and like 12 shrine maiden costumes among them, something feels off. Honestly, after all these years I feel like Zoo should just try to get English distribution rights and just... I don't know, sell the games these characters come from. I'm sure they would sell better if people know who these girls were. But yeah, six hours of playing Blazblue doesn't cramp my hand up as much as this shit did. If you like Breakout, yeah, maybe, sure, go for it, but it's not for me. At least with the Mahjong or poker games there is a degree of skill that is involved so you feel like you have more control. Here, you're just swinging widely half the time. Fuck, you know what I just realized. The game uses the same girls and graphics as Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire [GREEN]. I could have bought that, gotten the same 'Pretty Girls', and at least had some degree of fun because I actually do like Mahjong Solitaire. Oh yeah Zoo, stop reusing your damn graphics! Fuck, can't even return this so I can buy GREEN because Laty's last two stages where such bullshit they took me like an hour and half to finish. Not cool Zoo, not cool.
