If you haven't played Rune Factory before and are looking to get into the series, play Rune Factory 4 first. Otherwise, this is a decent game for returning players to the series. Rune Factory 5 is overall an enjoyable experience, with a deep crafting and item collection system returning alongside some good quality of life additions, like being able to access any storage from one storage container (like storage box from fridge) and bisexual townsfolk. The main issue with this game is its pace. Doing things is slow because of slow animations, getting places is slow because maps are huge, and days are slow with the in-game clock being slower than previous games. It's pretty much the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl of Rune Factory—if you can handle the slow pace, you'll have an alright time.

Compared to the Switch version, this game has no lag. This game has a good story and good mechanics.

Loved Rune Factory Tides of Destiny, thats what got me into this franchise. Had high hopes for 5 but it feels like it forsakes the cozy vibes for "bigger map". I get that is a selling point, but it feels a lot like when you make a Sims house and dont know what you are doing so you size everything too big and then toss in a few items and now your kitchen takes an hour to traverse? Yeah its like that.

Fun and fairly in depth farming sim. You have MANY different skills you can upgrade just by doing things, including sleeping and walking. The combat system is robust with multiple different weapons all of which you can upgrade a skill with to make you even better at them. Learning new skills and abilities, there is also a magic system that gives you even more options for combat. The farming is simple and enjoyable and you can make a special farm get even bigger with the right items. you can tame and use monsters/animals in the wilderness to work on your farm and to give you resources to help progress even further. There is a good selection of marriage candidates and it looks like you can also have same sex relationships in this one if you want it.

While considerably shorter than RF4, It's still a rather fun game on it's own merit and well worth playing.

I've been a fan since frontier, the start of the RF series, but I'm just seeing much better content coming from indie games that far surpasses RF5's experience, and with a less hefty price tag. RF5 Looks and plays very unpolished, which is weird since these folks have been doing games like this for decades. I appreciate that you can marry anyone as both male and female version, in fact its one of the best things about RF5 and I'd recommend you keep going in that direction! Other than that though, I don't really see any innovation, and the graphics and animation just look very janky, even walking animations look weird. Sorry RF5 devs, I'd love to give this game a thumbs up but I wouldn't be honest.

This is my first Rune Factory game that I've ever played. My first impression was a bit bad, the graphics are something I can look past as I find oldish "retro" looking graphics charming, but it was a bit overwhelming for someone who's never played these games before. I stuck with it though and after about an hour and a half I really began to get into it, I ended up discovering more and more things to do and how to do those things losing myself in the activities until it ended up becoming night time and I had to go. I'd absolutely recommend this game to people, I love the little anime introductions for each character, I love the colors, I love the music even if it's a bit repetitive at times, I love the gameplay style being able to do so many things. Other games like Stardew Valley feel a bit stressful for me because the days go by so quickly I feel like I'm missing out on content. With this games, the days actually last a bit too long which is a good problem for me. I could see that being an issue though, waiting for events to come back will take a while or waiting for night time events can feel annoying. Even so, I've been loving this game so much despite it being quite confusing for a newcomer at first!
