Definitely try the free DEMO: While easy to use, this app is largely a "media player" for the (admittedly gorgeous) animated maps produced by the designer which you have to purchase separately via a Patreon subscription. This app is not meant to be a map-designing tool (if you already own something like Foundry, you don't need this app*).
The designer offers some free maps available on their Patreon, but they are difficult to locate amidst the myriad of purchasable maps. It should be noted that there is a set of free assets that come with this app which includes dungeon sections that can be used to make one's own maps (as well as a smattering of backgrounds, sounds, particles, and a few other things), but they are limited in scope (i.e. no natural cave pieces nor sections of things common above ground like paths, trees, or campfires).
*While I have not tried, it may be possible to "play" the designer's animated maps in other map display tools such as Foundry (I cite this app because I am most familiar with it); i.e. they may display these maps, but they might not play the animations (designer also provides some static map files). So you could conceivably subscribe to the designer's Patreon to access their maps without using this app.
