The first few minutes doesn't leave a great impression, but this game is honestly a very well written mystery with great characterisation that has you guessing at what's going on. A touch of supernatural adventure mixed with the classic murder mystery in an isolated lodge up in the mountains. Plus, the pixel art visuals are just stunning. You can tell a lot of effort was put into making this game look beautiful. Overall, a very solid adventure game for those looking for hidden gems.

10/10 game I like it
They put a lot of attention and detail into making these 2D environments stand out the way they do. Almost everything you interact with in the it's own text acknowledging it. The main characters Harrod and Willie go perfectly with each other like butter and eggs. Willie's childish behavior is seen as annoying by Harrod but at the same time, Harrod admits his life wouldn't be as interesting without Willie's antics (and i think that's adorable). But yeah, the character's stand out for me the most. Without spoiling the plot, I say the lore, secrets, and sense of adventure is well developed.
My only issue is that they didn't give enough screen time for the side characters. All the attention was mostly on the main duo and YEAH the game DID give some dialogue from the characters in between major parts of the story but those just feel like talk for the sake of talking rather than them being included within the plot.
10/10 game I liked it
(PS: frame drops in parts with hella shit going on like the boss at the end)
What is this game?
"Mercury Abbey" is a visual novel/puzzle-adventure game. This game follows our protagonists Harold and Willie as they try to uncover the mysteries of the Mercury Abbey, and get in various dangerous scenarios along the way.

Horrible - Bad - Decent - Good - Amazing
Achievement hunting
Most achievements are story related, a good bunch collectible related, and a few require specific interactions to be made.
I got about 42/45 on my first run through (only missing a few collectibles and the very missable "Darrell Holmes". Overall these are very easy to clean up if you try to get everything though, as chapters are well split, there is a great autosave, and getting back to certain parts doesn't take long. (Completion time should range between 8-12hrs.)
Overall opinion
I really enjoyed this game and would definitely say it's a good spiritual successor to "Tales of the neon sea". The games have many similarities, but this one felt a lot more polished and seemed to have considerably more character depth. The addition of little minigames, dungeon crawler sections, and considerably more puzzles - really made for a good all around experience as well.
As a side note - I found Willie very realistic. Definitely a good representation of how rude/kind kids can be, and how being an uncle isn't always the easiest job in the world.

Buff furry man solves a mystery.
Should you buy it?
Definitely.

I imagine this games original language wasn't English as there are a few spelling mistakes (needs a good proofread). However, I didn't care in the slightest as I was far to invested in the story which was both captivating and mysterious. Fantastic world building with a lot of care to detail, everything looks great (and shiny). The game ends with the mention of a new adventure, looking forward to playing that... when it's out.
