Still a very long way from being a polished game, feels very early access

Its not much, so little in fact that phone games offer more. It feels like a chore. very little feels rewarding. The puzzles were fun ill give it that, but the loot was underwhelming and the enchanting system was unnecessarily complex. Same with the spell system, just really unneeded complexity. Both systems felt like bloat, that should have been streamlined to make room for more interesting content. Death loses levels, this is fine and felt fair, if not for the sudden power jumps of enemies. The world map feels like one of those resource capture games. but so far i have seen little benefit to actually taking the land, exploring it yes, claiming it..not much more than a buffer zone from others.

Fun little game if you like to watch auto-battles and try to figure out the best gear and setup to advance further. The adventure mode is very bare-bone but the puzzles are interesting (although repetitive) and it is a good way to farm for gear and money, especially early in the game. I got over 20 hours of fun until I felt I maxed out on gear and could not push further. But the game just got an update with new, much more expensive gear that should allow me to push my champions a little further and squeeze more fun out of this game. Obviously, it looks and feels like a phone game but it feels polished and it runs well. The interface could be better (i.e. no body part filter for gear equip) but it is functional. Spell types are limited to: heal, missile and elemental damage; there are no buffs nor debuffs. I'm not sure if using a damage dealer mage would work well, I only focused on healing so far. Sometime it felt like I was struggling with the game itself (found a few bugs and strange behaviours) but the dev responded to my posts and fixed the issues in the latest update, great! Also, after looking for other auto battler games on steam and reading reviews, it is clear that more expensive games also have their own issues. There's not many auto battlers on steam that are not idle nor RTS nor tower-defense. This is a truly turn based auto battler, the game never rushes you and you can play at your own pace.

It's a fun game! Personally, I liked the concept of mixing different elements - auto-battle, puzzles, arcade (!) and exploration. It's pretty satisfying to expand your domain in adventure mode and get good loot as a reward for solving a challenging puzzle :)

Nice battle game- I like curating my team and carefully picking the best fighters, lol, and the monsters are neat, the battles are cool to watch. Dramatic music. Would be cool to see our team health on the main screen so it's easier to know when to rest. Other than that, it's a fun fighter game.

Didn't want to keep wrecking my favorite item according to the heavy-handed crafting tutorial, and in doing so broke the tutorial. Now I'm not allowed to really craft because I didn't put all three earth stones on the same item to complete the tutorial. I can't find any more earth stones either, besides the 3 that the game started me off with having. ...assuming you don't break the game, though, it seems like it could be engaging.

Great gem of a game! While a little clunky at times, the core mechanics of the game are quite interesting. The main way to progress in game is to improve your items, which occurs via a crafting system different from any other I've seen so far. Definitely worth checking out if you are interested in crafting strong gear and seeing your team gradually get stronger. Also, it has a neat spell crafting interface allowing you to make your own spells with a ton of ways to modify them. As it can be a bit tricky to get started in, here are few tips for the beginning of the game as well: - When starting out usually best to start with melee build focusing on End/Agi/Str with one tank (mostly END) and two dps - Do the puzzles on the overworld to get your starter gear. If you end up with a trap, just protect your tank with the movable platform since they will be taking up most of the enemy damage and lose the most HP by a 3% HP loss per hit. - The level notifications in-game are "enemy" levels, not your characters' levels. The character levels are set when you first buy the heroes, although their stats can be trained. - As such, there is no problem killing enemies until you die, go back a few levels, and then kill more enemies. - The main way to get stronger in the game is by crafting gear, which will require crafting mats - Fastest way to get crafting mats is to farm enemies around the level where you get a bonus chest. After getting bonus chest, die and then kill the three levels of enemies again to get another chest. Note that you do not get a chest at that level if you select the button to not advance to next enemy level. - Follow the dev crafting guide to make some basic melee crafted gear for all slots for all characters. - Once you have three sets of decently crafted gear, then start farming gems by farming enemies in the overworld. - Then buy some high level mercenaries. May have to check multiple times in between farming gems before any good heroes appear. - Don't worry about spending gems on building your fortress yet as there are hardly any players in game at this time - Once you have at least one team full of high level strong heroes and you start getting extra gems, then can build up a basic fortress if you really want. Otherwise, can spend gems on more chests and crafting materials. Can earn passive gems from housing/barracks as well.

Pretty good, needs a bit of qol here and there but pretty fun. Reviewing hoping to bring back some players as the multi-player seems cool and dev might take an interest in updating a few bugs out lol. Very much recommend especially with current sale. Very much the fun of a mobile game without microtransactions and gacha stuff.

I bought this game just to see what it was like. "Giving it a try" turned into "playing for 5.7 hours over a couple of days". When I first started playing the game, the enchanting and spellmaking systems made little sense. The same day I started playing it the dev happened to push an update that improved those systems greatly. The game now tells you what enchantments will do and what their requirements are (and if you might cursed from botching those requirements). The spellmaking has a grid and there was some text added to explain what exactly is going on there. I started playing a few days after the adventure mode and "overworld map" were added. It's clear that this dev has been listening to player feedback and improving the game. At its heart of hearts, Smithy Wars is a mobile game. Short gameplay loop, simple graphics, PvP, idle combat. The hallmarks. Yet, while I usually have less interest in mobile games than I do in my bank account (great joke, smart people only), there is something enjoyable about Smithy Wars. And that's considering that, unlike many mobile games, it cost me $9.54 with tax. It's like a mobile game, but better. Just watch the trailers, and if anything in there interests you, I recommend it.
