This is another horror run & hide game with a few cheap jump scares, and it seems heavily influenced by 'Outlast'. The main antagonist who chases you for the first two or three sections of the game is a huge beast of a man. He's tall, overweight, bald, and shirtless... which looks way too much like Chris Walker.
This guy doesn't speak though. He wears a gas mask, and makes noises through it like a snorting pig. When you hear a noise that sounds like a chainsaw being fired up, you only got two or three seconds to start running. I don't understand why there's a chainsaw sound, cause this guy just kills you with his bare hands.
The other antagonists in the game are called both "zombies" and "mutants". But again, coincidentally, all of those guys look like they auditioned for roles as "variants" in 'Outlast'. Some of them even have all their skin flayed off. One of them, a bigger one who stands out from the rest, is totally naked.
The story is so shallow that it's practically non-existant. Your brother went to Chernobyl to take some photos, but once he entered a building he got trapped and couldn't get back out the way he came in. Before his phone battery died, he managed to get a message to you asking for help. So you go to rescue him.
However, when you enter, you also get trapped the same way he did. Your goal is to find your brother, and/or a way out. This maze of a cinder block building is littered with rusty 55-gallon drums and debris. You wander back and forth through hallways, up and down stairs, and across metal catwalks.
You have to find generators and power them up in order to unlock several doors. You only have a flashlight on you, but the environment is sometimes too dark for the flashlight to be of any help. Unfortunately, there are no game settings to brighten your view either.
Without any defense capabilities, your only choice is to run and hide when being attacked. This almost always means navigating quickly through this combination of obstacle course and labyrinth, looking for either a small hole in the wall, or a tunnel the size of an industrial air vent shaft, that you can crouch and crawl into.
Throughout the game you'll see dead females with short black hair, dressed in what looks like hospital gowns. Sometimes you'll see a lone body, and sometimes you'll see a pile of them, like it's a serial killer's dump site. Also, once in a while you'll see a zombie munching on one of them. However, there is no explanation as to who these females are, or why they all look alike, or why they are all dressed alike.
There are no manual saves. When you die, or leave the game and come back later, you will restart back at the last checkpoint. The checkpoints divide the game up into seven sections, with one save for each section. At each checkpoint, you'll find a short scribbled note of useless information from your brother.
For a game made in 2022, the graphics are way below average. Many things look "blocky", and crudely detailed. The ending was disappointingly anti-climatic, and very unsatisfying. The game did run perfectly fine though, which is the best thing I can say about it. I personally experienced no glitches at all.
It should only take you 2.5 to 3.5 hours to complete, depending on your pace of exploration, your sense of direction in the dark, and how many times you die. In summary, this game rates a big "No" from me. There is no fear, no surprises, no story, no trading cards, no achievements, no replayability, and no fun.
