For The King 2 offers an endlessly enjoyable roguelike multiplayer RPG experience that is a direct improvement from its predecessor in almost every way. The core gameplay keeps everything good from the original and spices it up with new additions like followers, the grid-based combat system, and loads of new equipment and items.
The only thing holding this game back is the bugs, of which there are unfortunately many. I have so far avoided anything that ruined a save. but I usually have to restart the game once per session on average.
In its current state, I would still recommend FTK2, but you should proceed with caution. If the game continues to get fixed (as it has been) then it would get my full recommendation.
Oh, and also, the music slaps.

Insane how it is a downgrade, the campaign is not what anyone wanted and the forced camera is horrible. Terrible to look at and play combat. It's a shame since the first game was so good and all they had to do was expand on what they currently had. Oh well FTK3 when?

For The King 2 is an absolute gem of a game. One of the better and more memorable games that I have played in my life. I haven't beaten the game yet but I look forward to beating it one day with my friends. I would say that if you're into a cartoon like feel turn based game, this is your game. It is a great break from the competitive scene!

Somehow, IronOak made a sequel that ignored almost everything enjoyable about the first game. Rushed objectives causing missed gameplay, needlessly complicated items, and ZERO explanation of scenario mechanics. I love the first game, but they really screwed the second one up. Save your money, don't buy.

For the King II is kind of a step down from the first game. Yes, there's visual bugs and whatnot, but nothing game breaking. However, the game is made up of chapters and when you complete a chapter you have to START ALL OVER AGAIN on the next chapter. Whereas the first game is a continuous adventure until you die or complete it. That is very discouraging and a very hard pass for me -- since I cannot refund, it'll just sit in my library.

Take a look at this games updates for over the past year, and see how most of the patches are constantly addressing bugs/crashes/freezes/etc.
Now play that game today and see how buggy, broken, and unstable it still is.
It's a mess and has been one since Early access.
There is a OK game in here I think, deep down beneath the crud. From what I could get working and despite other issues on top of the performance (zero camera control to let you really see the whole battle and slow clunky menu navigation to name a few), it can be fun I guess but really just play the first game.

Buggy and less well designed than the first game.
Choices were made, competencies were not competented.
In terms of design, the land boat screws things up. Chapter/campaign design is poorly paced.
Its crazy how buggy this game is when literally 90% of the credits is QA.

I cannot fully recommend the game despite that it is fun when it is working. The biggest draw to the game, the multiplayer portion of the game, bugs out so badly that you can't really play multiplayer.
For starters, there's a bug that makes it so players cannot even load into your multiplayer session. Second is that there's other instances where players may not load like dungeons. If a person in multiplayer cannot load into the dungeon they are stuck not playing the entire dungeon as the game doesn't allow players to join mid dungeon.
Also there's graphical issues where the game has black and white transistions that would make an epilleptic cry. The game has been out for over a full year now and there's still game destroying bugs for multiplayer.
I would avoid this if you are looking for a new multiplayer game.

Was enjoying the game. After putting a ton of time into it, the game crashed and deleted all of my progress. I will have to start over with nothing to continue playing. What a joke that the game crashing can wipe out ALL of the data. Do not buy this game.

its fun but worth maybe 10$ in current state.
ppl with thumbs down are right. buggy and crashy. UI is excrement especially with controllers which is unforgivable on a couch co op game. devs need to implement something to stop one player from accidentally 'playing' another players' character in local co op.
it's better than the first once but it feels like its a mile wide and ankle-deep and there aren't many synergies or ways to grow that aren't 'got a new sword', which is especially bad as you can play for 2 hours straight and not get one that's appreciably better than the one you start with.
hope IO keeps working on it. lots of potential here.
