Playtime: 60 minutes
This is one of those strange games that really falls into the gap. There is a lot interesting here, but a lot missing, and in the end the downsides outweigh the pluses. Honestly though, I think part of why I voted this down is that it doesn't seem to have been seriously touched since 2021, and I don't think it is going to get any better. The core conceit it that it is all based on hexes. You have to build your maze, and fend off wave after wave of what looks like pieces of breakfast cereal? Honestly, only one monster. And only four guns. They seem to only have straight upgrades, but I have yet to find a cap, reaching fifth level with two towers before things fell apart. Part of the game is that some hexes will become shaded red, and you can't build in this. This is good, as it stops the maze from just being a giant swirl, though it will be close to one. The map does slowly get bigger over time, which is nice. There is no fluff, but I'm not sure what fluff this game could have, it is so basic. That said, it would be nice to know what the guns damage is, clearly none of them do anything fancy, like burning or slow. I think it might tell us how much the damage increases with upgrades, but I'm not sure, and it doesn't tell you what the current damage is. The real difference is the range, adjacent hex, one away, or two away. The game can get so full of foes that it gets hard to extend your maze, as you can't build where one of them is at the moment. The worse thing for me is that every time a foe reaches your base, giant red beams come from above, and start destroying your towers. Once this happens, it is a real struggle to recover the integrity of your maze. It is one long stretch of endless waves, so there is no strategic upgrades of any kind. The assets are blah, grey and kind of bland, they look like miniatures that have been 3d printed honestly. As I said, only four guns, one one enemy, eventually it is one long stretch of sameness, I can't see any reason to play it more that two or three times. ADDENDUM: I got sixty minutes of fun out of it, three runs. I paid two bucks American, a bit expensive.
