The game plays pretty well, has some rough spots you have to tolerate but is a very interesting and passionately made game.
I would beg though, either for more health, difficulty modes, or regenerating health. The game is just far too hard at this point, I love it enough to go through the trial and error against massively overpowered human enemies with guns, it may be realistic, but it is not very fun.
I do really love the game, but am torn with just how frustrating it is.
The levels, concepts, and story really are something special though so it is worth it in the end, but I wish and hope that the game gets a little love and care.

This is going to be an updated review after the initial release of the game.
The initial release, was a bit of a disaster. It had some game breaking bugs, some downright hilarious bugs including the ability to walk through locked doors, and an ending that came out of nowhere.
Having spoken to the developer and having had the game updated, it's now a lot better. It's still fairly buggy; there's a lot of issues that make it a little frustrating. When you take damage, the screen takes on a permanent red blood spatter filter that makes it tough to see anything. It's extremely difficult to tell how close you are to death. And any weapon that isn't the shotgun is extremely awkward to use.
All that being said, the developer took the criticism well, and they've been working to fix the game.
I also love seeing these more "classic" monster designs come out; it's nice to see changes to the typical experience of vaguely Lovecraftian creatures or zombies, so I'm happy to see something different. I'd forgotten about the insane lizard people conspiracy until I saw this game, so the game gets points for that.
In my opinion, I'd say get it for a couple bucks on sale. It's a bit too expensive at $10 right now, but it definitely has potential.
