If you find this review to seem unpolished, illogical, repetative, unedited and a waste of time, well, that is because I wrote it in the same manner as this game was designed. So, maybe that seems harsh, yet the game is that, too. So, I advise that you not purchase The Last Defense unless you truly hate yourself and/or enjoy being tortured, which considering the crazy # of hours I've put in solving these mostly non-intuitive levels and basically torturing myself with frustration trying to beat them (BTW I am a long time TD player, not new to the genre) apparently I am guilty of both of these sins.
On a positive note, the graphics are pretty good and once you struggle through the huge learning curve, aka guessing game, it becomes somewhat addictive and actually enjoyable (or is that simply a side effect of the torture aspect? Hmm)
Anyhoo, originally I voted a big thumbs down for this game but have since gone back to my review and changed my rating to positive only because I realized that I must be actually enjoying this game on some strange level of my being in order to have been playing it so obsessively or is that maybe sheer stubbornness, IDK. Typically I would have deleted a game with so many annoyances, right?
So even though I've left a thumbs up, lol, I am sincerely hoping the developer dives in and makes some practical changes for we mere mortals, such as:
Please start with the overlays. The overlays are WAAAAY too big and obstruct the view; the invisibility detector button is almost superimposed on top of (very close to) the close overlay button, and, therefore, cause countless unintentional closures at crucial times, especially concerning since this is a real play time frame and actions need to be swift. There needs to be a FF button because there is just so much repetition in experimenting with layouts and it gets tedious without a fast forward button.
Also pleeease upgrade the SFX; maybe it's just me but the weapons sounds are quite tinny versus explosive/impressive and more varied. The music is pretty good but in a loop.
Also, the weapons and enemies need to be defined with stats; otherwise it's just a guessing game with no logic involved.
Again, I thought the graphics were pretty good and it could be a fantastic game with more polish and fine tuning.
Oh, and please consider a bit more variance in the maps and more levels, as they would also be appreciated, as well as allowing the player to play "easy" through the entire game and then venture to medium and hard difficulties versus having to traverse through all three difficulties on the exact same map (yawn).
Again, I would love to see more games such as this one but with a bit more polish and more user friendly features. Oops, did I say I gave it a thumbs up? Lol lol lol lol Nope.
Thanks for reading and happy gaming.

A very nice and easy to play game. Be careful of round 14.

Not inclined to give other than a "neutral" recommendation at this time.
Unable to get much past halfway on the easy setting on the first level. This could be me, or balancing issues. There also seems to be an issue revealing all invisible enemies, even with appropriate radar upgrades.
Otherwise, the title looks promising - I like how the creeps vary their paths and don't stick to the centre of the path, so you can't necessarily rely o the arcs of fire targeting all enemies.

It's okay, but I didn't find it very engaging. To get perspective, examples of the games I liked are Kingdom Rush, Creeper World and Gemcraft among others. This game is not in the same category of complexity or general construction. The graphics too are okay, but not really sophisticated. The enemies are non-descript. All in all, a regretful "NO".

I am the first to admit that I'm not the greatest gamer in the world, I like to play games on Easy mode and then see if I can beat levels on the harder levels later. It took me a long time (but not the 65 hours it is showing that I've played for!) but I did beat the first level on Easy eventually and looked forward to playing Level 2. Nope, got to beat the first level on normal and hard before you can advance. This is just pathetic and I am too pathetic a player to be able to achieve this. I don't want my money back I want to be able to play the game through on Easy level. I hope the developer fixes this because it is a good game.
