Can’t say that I was expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised! RPGolf Legends Gameplay Review - yes, an RPG golf game. https://youtu.be/StNryNLZnro

Golfing is excellent. Story is good. Combat and questing are OK. Golfing makes up for it. Please make bear meat drop rate better.

just started, but it already seems like it's going to be fun. Simple mechanics, good control- after remap and charming pixel graphics. I'm actually saving this for steam deck as I think it will be a great fit.

RPGolf Legends got me surprised. I was expecting the two genres to be less entwined but the developers put a lot of effort into mixing them. The golf part is really fun! A bit pricy maybe? Seems to have a lot of content though!

RPGolf Legends is a great little title! Loved how nice and immediate the golf part of it was and I liked the fighting/quests action between the holes! The graphic is great if you love pixel art and the OST is absolutely a pleasure to listen to. The only thing I wished for, is that there was some sort of indicator for the log. It took me a while to figure out that it was something I had available (it is in the control mapping, but not mentioned otherwise). One last thing: definitely recommend a gamepad. It plays WAY better than the keyboard!

If a Golf-ARPG sounds odd, it's because it is. So very, wonderfully odd that it just works! I'm sure peanut butter and jelly got some questionable looks once upon a time! For the game itself, in form and fashion it stays true to the original with some welcome additions and a much-expanded story which took little over 21 hours (there were several puzzles that took longer than I care to admit, and others I have yet to figure out what the game is looking for). Overall, time very well spent--the game never takes itself too seriously and is sprinkled with clever humor and laugh-out-loud jokes. My only gripes are with the flying creatures which take so long to take down, mainly because of their attack pattern of "hover a lot and then dive randomly", and some of the later bosses which easily took 30+ minutes to defeat due to the same tediously long patterns and unclear understanding of what the game is asking for. As I said, I had to pass on a few puzzles (and likely achievements) as I was never able to figure out what I was supposed to do. That said, one can find faults in anything if they look for them, and in this case the games charming characters, bright colors, and whimsical story make this an inspired sequel to the original! Looking forward to seeing what comes next!!

As a huge fan of quirky RPG's that mashup other genres or off the wall settings, I was looking forward to this as a Steam alternative to Golf Story, a game I absolutely adore. Sadly, this game fell short for me, for many reasons. Graphically, the game is generic pixel art. Not bad but not good or memorable. It works... kind of. The camera is way too zoomed in, making the environment not much fun to explore, the sprites and animations are very basic, and the style overall is just... bland. The controls work, most of the time, but did require a bit of re-mapping for controller. Nothing major, just swapping a few buttons around to fit with industry standard schemes. Unfortunately, the controls often felt sluggish and unresponsive, especially during combat sequences. Quite a few times I noticed the game dropping button presses during even the most basic of fights, with just a single enemy against me. On top of that, hit-boxes seem just ever so slightly off from the animations, making more crowded fights an annoyance. The music and sound scheme are pretty good, overall. Nothing really jumped out negatively. The songs I experienced were, again, a bit generic but made well enough. Nothing much really to say here. Story wise... the game is a bit of a miss for my tastes. It tries very hard to be meta and funny but really comes across as forced and a bit lazy in it's writing. Instead of writing an engaging narrative they decided to go for a more "Hey, it's a RPG about Golf, isn't that zaney!" approach, which just fell flat for me. Maybe it's someone else's cup of tea but it's not for me. In the end, the concept is solid and I can see what they were going for, but the game just fails to deliver. While it techincally works, it's a bit dull to play and doesn't really offer anything you can't find elsewhere done better. Perhaps if the price was closer to $10, I could see it being worth it, but for $30, this is hard pass for me.

Look, if this game was fifteen bucks, I'd be absolutely all over it. But this is a fourty dollar KEMCO game so it kinda needs polish, polish it absolutely doesn't have. Simple things like giving reminders of the controls for using the menu would have been nice, and would have made the game feel like it's meant to be played. The framerate being choppy and unappealing during shots does no favours, hell the game looks and acts like a late-era GBA shovelware game. Together it all feels like a clunky half baked Golf Story mixed with a clunky half-baked Game Boy Colour era Zelda game. I'd give this more of a chance, as it DOES have some charm and some intrigue, but I'm not risking 40 bucks on the hopes of it getting good. Refunded.
