I love this game! It finally got me to write my first review after being on Steam for 14 years. I've seen a negative review about the controls, but I thought they were exceptionally well polished. From what I understand Small Bros is a one man studio, so I'm pretty impressed. If there is a sequel, I'll snatch it up immediately. It feels like if the OG Mega Man games had a love child with John Carpenter's The Thing. There are several bits intermingled that mix up the game play by putting you in various vehicles. The simple color scheme could have been a negative, had I been stuck with certain colors, but the art was so well done and there are so many different color palettes to choose from that I found several looks I loved. Edited to add: The one critique I have is that I would have loved to have been able to return to the base and keep going
even if it doesn't make sense after the whole asteroid is destroyed.
instead of having to start a new game with a free roam mode. Others have expressed the same, so I hope the developer will keep this in mind for the sequel. (I'm just going to will a sequel into existence.)

It has an entertaining enough story, good movement, and interesting maps.cant believe theres a precision platformer i like.... so far. for now, it hits the spot of being hard and entertaining without having any gimmicks, nor being annoying. --------------------POST COMPLETION (bad ending) edition: OH! MY LORD!!!!I 10/10, PERFECT GAME, let me explain. Context first: 1- I am a Metrodivania addict completionis.... got that?? cool. 2- I HATE precission platformers (almost every single one of them, with the EXCEPTION of this one, and MAYBE a few more). So what makes this game PERFECT 1- its a 9 hour first run (not all collectibles found) metroidvanic precission platformer WHICH UNDERSTOOD (i KNEW it was possible), that precission platforming is at its best when a- the only real challenge is to be patience and think about HOW you are gonna go through a level and b- when saving options are COHERENT and not aimed at making you repeat rooms ad nauseam 2- SEVERAL VERY DIFFERENT playable characters, with 2 more when you finnish the game. ALL of whom have 3 weapons which are totally different for each one fo them AND different stats, for a roster of ABOUT 8 characters you CAN SWAP between at your base, to better suit your playstyle. 3- Interesting, fun to beat, not easy, not too "ooooh, i wanna win me that souls-like tag" bosses 4- a competent story with AT LEAST 2 possibile endings (maybe more, i think, if you miss one interaction) 5- collectibles which may change the way you play AND are instrumental to the story 6- a WIDE variety of enemies (you never feel like they just reskinned enemies 7- AS IF THAT WASNT ENOUGH, in at least 4 ocasions, the game COMPLETELY changes its genre to keep it fresh and entertaining WITHOUT ever breaking, the story, the narrative the flow of the game and without ever feeling forced or misplaced 8-Beautiful pixel art and competent music 9-several palletes for you to choose from in case you find it hard to work with the colors you get 10- an arcade mode i havent checked yet AND... 11- WHEN YOU FINISH THE GAME, IF YOU WANT TO CHASE THOSE OTHER ENDINGS, YOU CAN CHOOSE HOW YOU BEGIN THE NEXT RUN AND FOCUS ON LOOKING FOR WHAT YOU WANT, something MOST games of the genre DONT DO, so as to make you inflate your gaming time. BUY. THIS. GAME..... you wont regret it. --------- END OF POST COMPLETION EDIT------------

It's surprising this game isn't better recognized for how tightly made it is. The presentation is fantastic, with numerous ways to play and a difficulty level that's accessible. Music and visuals are perfect. Some might say its level of accessibility is too easy, but I don't dock any points for that, or for length. It's appropriately priced and a great game for those who might typically feel overwhelmed by Metroidvanias. This one is fairly linear and simple to understand. Lots of variation in gameplay throughout as well, so it never gets boring. Upon finishing you unlock additional characters and modes. Grab BIOTA next time it's on sale.

Funderful. The vehicle combat felt limited is my only complaint, but it's a fun game in its entirety!
