This works. Surprisingly well. It's not a particularly expansive tool, but it does do what it says in the title! Masks look particularly cool.

I like the idea - but I miss more options in the "generation" process. (maybe an alpha-channel option would be nice or loading a file/tile to work with instead of just pixeling every time ). This is a tool to design sprites - the influence on the process is too little in my opinion. The GUI is really worth a second try. Maybe some more love and additional work would turn this into a little gem - depends on the attitude of Jean-Michel Nadeau.

Really neat idea, but I can't recommend it. The UI and various functions are extremely lacking. Simple key commands / shortcuts like undo (ctrl-z) don't exist. -Very- limited "documentation" if you can even call it that. You can't directly choose palette colors for what is generated without needing to upload a custom palette. The majority of what is generated is a pixely broken mess unless you make things extremely chunky / small. When trying to draw at a reasonable speed or making larger things, there is a considerable delay for how fast the cursor can paint. Anti-aliasing doesn't exist, you're stuck in the 8-bit style no matter what (unless you're going to do it by hand, but given how clunky the color selector is, you'll be suffering for the next 20 years) I'd say there's potential, but the program was released less than a few weeks ago and it's not in early access, there's no road-map, nothing. I wouldn't have high hopes for it ever receiving updates. Given that you're either drawing something really small (8 pixels~) or have to draw most / all of what you're making (non-symmetrical designs), then what do you need a program like this for? Perhaps it'll receive updates, perhaps it'll be better in the future. I really don't know. What I do know is that it's not even currently worth the 6 dollar price tag for what I make vs what it offers/can do. You're much better off either drawing (or learning to draw) the thing yourself, or searching online for the countless free assets that exist.
