AT A GLANCE

Game Name: Pathfinders: Mini Words
Original Release: 2021-06-03
Genre Tags: Casual, Puzzle, Spelling, Word Game
Estimated Playtime (Campaign): 25-45 minutes
100% Achievements Playtime: 25-45 minutes
DLC Required for 100% Achievements: No
Multiplayer Aspect: None
Replayability: None
Recommended To: Casual Gamers, Achievement Hunters

REVIEW
Pathfinders: Mini Words is a casual, spelling, word game, puzzle game. It is the fourth game in the Mini Words series.
STORY
There is no story, background, or setup to the game.
GAMEPLAY
The goal of the game is to spell words in the allotted letters given, without crossing lines or leaving any letters unused. The puzzles come in packs of 10 and the clue provided is a child-like picture of an item. The problems and solutions are fixed so there is no deviation in the results. If you get stumped there are word puzzle tools online, and there are guides for each puzzle number.
PLAYTIME
The game is pretty easy. This appears to be the junior or kid version of the Mini Words series. There are 100 puzzles to complete. Play time for this game is ~25-45 minutes to complete all puzzles and get all achievements.
COMPLAINTS
There is nothing specific to complain about for this game.
REPLAYABILITY
The game doesn’t have any replayability since the puzzles do not change.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend this game to anyone that likes casual word games or is an achievement hunter.

A cute and easy childrens game. It was included in the "Mini worlds" bundle, and boring yourself through for an easy 100% only takes 30 minutes.

You need to create words from the letters on a board. The words you need are depicted by pictures alongside the board. As this is a game about creating words, you need to have at least somewhat of a grasp of the English language. If e.g. you don't how to spell giraffe, or what a picture is supposed to be, you are in bad luck. Like many word games, that makes it a little less accessible. Furthermore the game is 50 levels long, with the early levels having just one short word, later levels having two or sometimes even three words you need to find on the board. 50 levels may sound like pretty okay, but condering a level does not have to take much more than a couple of seconds once you know which words you are looking for, the game is short. Now I don't mind short games at all, on the contrary. But this game takes short to the next level. English is not even my native language, so on a couple of levels I wondered a little while what words I was looking for, yet still I was done with the game in less than half an hour. That is too short for my taste, which is basically the only reason why I do not recommend it. Other than that both graphics and audio are fine, although nothing fancy.

The game is quite easy but still enjoyable. I was entertained for about half an hour which is short but I only spent about a dollar so I think it was still worth it in the end.

This is a really cute and easy word game where you need to find the word that matches the picture on the left. The word puzzles are really easy and if English is your first or second language you will not need any help to complete the puzzles. It takes approximately 30 minutes to finish all 100 levels and unlock all the achievements.

A lot of reviews focusing on the game is more suitable for kids and not intended for adults. Well, I guess I'm a childish adult or I'm a word game lover that can take almost any word games regardless of the complexity of the game. I have to admit that it doesn't offers a lot of challenges if you are looking for one. However, if you really enjoy playing a game, you still get the fun no matter how short or how childish it is. If you are looking for a longer or challenging game, this game is not for you. But if you love word games, why not just give it a try and have a few minutes of fun moments from your busy life.

Excellent spelling and logic game for kids, and perhaps some adults. ;) 100 hundred stages with two or three pictures of the words to spell. The letters to be used are arranged so connecting lines (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) may be used to spell the words. No line (connection) may be reused, and all letters displayed must be used. Lots of fun!

It was cheap and a word game, so I grabbed it, and it's not bad. (I did turn off the voice reading out the words as I found that kinda annoying.) It was too short, like so many of these little games, really, and not particularly complex. I'm guessing now it was intended for kids, but eh... I like word games, so I completed it. I wish Steam had an "information only" selection on regular reviews, like in Curator reviews, but I'd say if you get it really cheap or in a bundle and you like little simple word games, why not? Just don't expect any really deep thought going on here.

mini words is a pretty successful word game franchise at this point, but instead of selling reskins of the same thing (or not even reskinning them), I'd like to think they took my advice/wishes from the mini words: top movies review and they're doing all sorts of 'spinoffs'. video games and foreign language learning done, this is the kids edition with pictures instead of descriptions, and who knows what's next? music, food and animals would be great, sports, history or geography less so for me personally, but probably inevitable at some point, as is an endless/random iteration perhaps. this title, while a mini words game through and through, is also a crossover with the developer's pathfinders series. the first and only one until now was a memory game, not something for me, but they carried the characters and setting over to this, and the result is pretty great. 100 levels in 10 chapters, every level is available within at the same time, but packs have to be unlocked one by one. you'll find common words, numbers, colors, animals, and a text-to-speech lady pronounces every word once they're found, and can be bothered to repeat them as many times as you'd like. the fake lady is american, would be good to have a british option too. gameplay is the usual, keep the mouse button pressed until you finish creating the words by moving horizontally, vertically or diagonally, but you can (and often have to) go back and forth to make longer words than the number of letters on the screen (e.g. using 't', 'e' and 'x' you can create text by using 't' twice), but you have to use all the letters at least once. really cute images, good music, nice interface. there are separate volume settings, but speech is bundled with sound effects. toggle for automatic speech and windowed mode with a fixed-size window, no resolution options or the usual zoom thing for various window sizes. I rushed through it in 30 minutes, but it can take longer depending on your age and vocabulary. I'm clearly not the target audience, but really enjoyed it, fun and educational stuff, recommended mostly for kids, parents, and people with peter pan syndrome.
