This game is still in early access but it is very fun. MicroProse has decided to come back into the gaming scene again after a two decade hiatus with this gem. Take up the role of PT boat commander in WWII. You can outfit your boat pretty much how you see fit, be it guns, torpedoes, ammo, crew, you have free reign to set your boat up however you want. Want to load your boat with ashcans and go after submarines? You can do that. Want to load your boat up with torps and go after convoys? You can do that too. Want to see if your boat can have too much dakka? There is no such thing as too much dakka, but you can try. Fit your boat with dual 40mm Bofors, dual 20mm Oerlikons, dual and quad .50s, “acquire” an Army 37mm anti-tank gun, hell you can mount 3-inch Destroyer Escort main guns and really give someone a headache. You wanna do hood rat shenanigans? Load up a few rocket launchers and one of a few mortar sizes or even a 75mm howitzer and do midnight drive-bys of enemy ports. The game pretty much says you are at war, you are here, and we give zero Fs on HOW you harass the enemy. You can be a straight up “Freedom Pirate” as the Fat Electrician has called them when talking about PT109. The gameplay is good, and you quickly learn that your boat is a glass cannon, you will have to use the boat’s speed and size to zoom in to launch your strike and get out of dodge before you are turned into driftwood. The biggest downside I can find is you can only customize your boat, the others you put into your squadron follow one of around five standardized loadouts (If there is a way to change those, I have not found it yet).

Still Early Access the game is already worth the money at least for me and probably those who like naval games. The open & dynamic campain offers a lot of options: Taking initiative in attaking fleets or bases in silent or aggressive mode or joining AI-generated actions. Things become exciting when you have muliple choice that happens frequently boosted by the fact that you have to resupply your vessel with ammo, repair and medic stuff. Tuning your loadout is key especially during the 1st quarter of the campain when Recource Points are scarce. Graphic is not the strength of the game but is still acceptable for those who want to focus on gameplay like combat with numerous units involved. Fore the latter I would like to have a more comfortable crew management since it easily becomes fiddly to reassign your sailors to different stations and tasks. Last not least the game runs quite solid. I just had a single freeze. Be4 I forget: Devs please include a COOP mode until final release!

The game can be fun for a short time, but it is so repetitive that the game gets very dull. Leveling up your crew and upgrading your boat is fun; but it doesn't take long to max that out. You die very quickly if the enemy focuses you. There is no way to make your boat more resistant to damage, you can only improve it's damage and versatility. While this does make sense in a historical sense in terms of gameplay it is very frustrating. The strategic map/main campaign is very limited. You simply don't have enough control to make even the simplest of changes. I struggled to get even 17 hours of fun from this title. Skip it.

great game, starts off slow and hard to level... but when you get some momentum, it's hard to put this game down. NEED MULTIPLAYER! this game would be amazing if friends you at least pilot the other boats in your squadron.

Its too jank for me, watching the vids it felt like Battlestations pacific in low polly but in practice it just not enjoyable at all for me.
you have to use Most of your keyboard, which is fine if it was a management game but while you manage the boat and everyone on it, you also have to actually drive and shoot from the boat. its just kind of got the bad parts of a manage game and a ship shooter, like the actual controlling of the boat doesnt feel good because the janky management commands are all over the keyboard, trying to actually manage things and drive/shoot (which is dumb because Im managing those who drive and shoot..)
most people seem to like this game, I just couldnt do it.

fun game, well done and enjoyable.
also plays alright on a steamdeck;
though i do hope they'll add a proper layout/ dedicated settings for this device or similar controllers as while controller input does work its not very user friendly with some functionality isseus and all keybinds keep referring to the pc keyboard inputs instead of controller buttons as of writing.
would recommend.

A great depiction of captaining one of the smallest ships in a massive conflict yet still capable of annihilating targets hundred times larger - if you use your strengths and limited resources well. Otherwise you get spotted and have to survive a storm of bullets & shrapnel, since your tiny glass-cannon boat will get obliterated after taking just a few direct hits.
Gameplay loop is rather short especially after trying out all the boat equipment combinations, but also hard to master and managing to hit every torpedo where you wanted them is extremely satisfying. There are some bugs like crew members getting stuck while rearming weapons, enemies going inactive on map edges and such, but nothing game-breaking or desktop-crashing.
Game is in a good shape for early access and I look forward to new updates.

Great game, devs keep working on it and adding new features as well as new content. Has new level editor that is easy to use and can keep out pumping missions to play if you get bored of campaign. They have talked about maybe putting a boat editor too. Game isn't finished but I sure am looking forward to it.
